Why do people not like Jeremy Corbyn?

I think a lot of people do like him, very much. He's an extremely popular MP. He's hated on mumsnet, that's for sure.

I wouldn't vote for him as I am not that hard left, but I really welcome a party that represents that demographic, its important to have a broad range.

He's also more humourless than Starmer, which is saying something.

I'm naturally aligned with Labour views, and wanted to like him, but couldn't.

He was flaky on Brexit, which I found hard to forgive. He always seemed to give the impression that he was above party politics, but he never made a effort to bring the rest of the party/supporters with him.

Instead he came across a a detached, middle class socialist, not really rooted in reality, but in some liberal elite bubble.

Possibly a decent MP for his constituents. But as a leader, hugely divisive.

His handling of Labour antisemitism was unacceptable. It was very “but they’re a good leftist so…”

it’s not even whether he is one personally. It’s poor judgment. And it was very tiring to be told by his supporters, again and again, that it was all made up to undermine him.

I was also very unimpressed with his attitude towards Brexit. He’s always been ambivalent about the EU and it showed.

He’s hard left (not my politics)

he presided over a Labour Party which was found to be institutionally racist (anti semitism)

he has called Hamas “friends” and has taken very odd stances on Russia

he presided over Labour having witch hunts against women who know that biological sex is real and matters

This is for me. I should love him, as his political views align, in theory, with those of my youth. But there is always that slippery, slimy, obscure part in him. Like there is more, but he will not say. He does not look to me like a strong leader either. I mean, he failed to win the vote versus Boris!

Will you be joining his party? If his behaviour with terrorists doesn't concern you?

Personally it’s because he absolutely does not represent my views, this is obviously true of many politicians, but his are extreme, he supported£ the IRA when it was killing British soldiers and civilians, Iran, doubtless Hamas, if he was in charge we would probably be supplying weapons toRussia and applying sanctions on Ukraine. He is just far too left wing

MI5 and MI6 had a file on him due to his behaviour relating to terrorists (I think that's a non-libellous way of putting it). If he became PM people were worried about intelligence drying up which seems reasonable. Intelligence in all other areas too.

I also believe he holds deeply anti-Semitic views he attended a wreath laying ceremony for terrorists who murdered Israeli citiizens, was a speaker sitting on a stage under a banner saying ‘From Auschwitz to Gaza’ on Holocaust Memorial Day, did nothing about anti-Semitism in his party where it proliferated under him, and supported the IRA and refused to condemn Putin sending assassins to murder on British soil. And he also thinks women’s basic human rights to safety, privacy and dignity are disposable, as he thinks men should be able to go in women’s spaces.

He also had the stupidity and arrogance to try to get a job (PM) he had spent his whole career avoiding gaining the experience and connections for, and then filled his cabinet with his equally ideology led and inexperienced mates. Like he’s running a student newspaper and not a country.

He’s not a nice guy, and he’s not smart and he’s filled with ego and arrogance.

I don't agree with some of the policies he advocates, but my main reason for disliking him was the inaction when Labour party leader and some of the members were anti-semitic.

Another elderly white man who has some whacky ideas and a thirst for power. We have too many of these as leaders in the world today.

Corbyn is very evasive when questioned about his stance on various issues, which makes him appear untrustworthy. As I don't know him personally, I can only go on how he comes over on the news/media, and apparent untrustworthiness doesn't appeal.

I would prefer someone who is younger, open and transparent, and with fresh ideas for the country. Corbyn's few proposals in past years re. fiscal policy etc. do not align with my thinking and therefore I'm not going to vote for him.

He sides with every enemy of the UK.

It matters not a bit that you disagree. This charmless man will never get near office. He’s for students and the Socialist Worker Party only. Oh, and chanting champagne socialists at Glastonbury.

I disagree with everything you’ve said but at least you’ve stuck to the politics rather than baseless lies and smears like others.

He also seems to lack a bit of personal charm (came across as humourless at PMQs) and he’s a poor orator.

He’s a middle class man from a middle class background with a fantasy, Disneyland view of the working class. He seems to think the working class are a loveable misunderstood group of people who need ‘saving’.

His policies are completely unrealistic and silly, and he wants to throw money at everyone who isn’t well off - money that isn’t there.

At the last election, he was proposing free breakfasts and school lunches for all primary children. No, Jeremy. This isn’t a Scandi country with a Scandinavian sized population and Scandinavian taxes. Why should a binman be paying for some Crouch End yummy mummy’s kids’ oat milk?

The structural deficit would get much worse if he were ever in charge. ‘Fiscal prudence’ means nothing to him.

In every news article I've read and any interview I've seen him in, he is always slippery about his actual view. It's always 'his team' who clarify afterwards.

I don't want a PM who isn't clear about his position.

Politics in general has degraded into sound bites over substance. It's very depressing.

i agree that just over half the people voted for Brexit, Within the 52%, only 37% of labour supporters voted leave. Lib Dem’s and green party also showed majority wishing to remain.
