This migrant problem is going to let Reform in isn’t it?

Honestly it’s such a bloody nightmare. Reform are making a total hash of local government from what I’ve read, putting teenagers in charge of whole departments with no relevant experience. What are they going to do if they are elected to run a country!!!! I’m honestly terrified. Labour need to be seen to be actively doing something to quell the far-right momentum that’s gaining traction from ordinary folk. I’m amazed at the average, usually pretty sensible people around me who are now telling me they are going to vote Reform.

there was an interview I saw yesterday where the minister said that thousands of people were being deported regularly. The interviewer asked why there were no videos of this and she said there could be. Well let’s see it! It would absolutely help.

Genuinely couldn't care if reform abolish the NHS, raise taxes, whatever. This invasion needs controlling

Strawberrri · 28/07/2025 21:49

^^ that’s how I feel and will do the same

Whammyyammy · 28/07/2025 21:48

Im voting reform because of the migrant crisis. I don't care how much a mess of the uk reform make, the migrant crisis is worse.

Strawberrri · 28/07/2025 16:02

I was reading the NYTimes and several spokespeople in an article condemned the ?Police in black hoodies and masks who arrest immigrants and stick them in holding buildings prior to deportation from the US.
All the top voted readers’ comments at the end of the article were in favour and anti immigration -I was shocked

Why are schools making banners of any kind?

Is that banner just parents and dc rather than a school? Not sure where the first quote is from but the tweet says local parents and children

I don't believe schools are there to take sides.

Being against racism isn't taking sides, it's being a decent human being.

You are not condemning the actions of the racists

Is that your concern rather than racist protesting alongside concerned parents?

The liberal elite have destroyed this country.

Totally agree . This once great country is a shadow of what it was .

You could say that indeed, except it would be a lie. Unless you have evidence?

There is however evidence of this

Local schoolchildren made a banner saying "Epping welcomes all except racists". The Homeland Party [their Norfolk organiser] says his members have taken and burnt it, sharing the image of burning the anti-racist message on social media, to emphasise their commitment to racism.

I have no words. The school got a letter wrong. You would think they knew how to spell.

TopPocketFind · 28/07/2025 08:47

Tranquilly · 28/07/2025 02:59

You could just as easily say that the counter protests are organised by hard-left communists and therefore all people against the Epping protests are Stalinists. No doubt there’ll be some wrong’uns on either side. The article posted earlier about neo-Nazis was quoting Hope Not Hate, and they have their own agenda, too.

Does the evidence that the protests have been orchestrated by neo nazi groups not concern you?

No issue with that/. Most of the things that work well in the country are private. Most of the things that are shit are public. A privately run NHS would be amazing. Many of us already have private health care and it is considerably better than the NHS. Some people seem to think the NHS is untouchable when really it a massive money pit of incompetence.

A privately run NHS would be amazing.

It would also be far more expensive per patient. I've had private treatment and can see where the extra money goes.

I really hope Reform get in at the next election. I will be voting for them. At least it will get rid of this shower.

Never in a million years would I have agreed with
this but the other two have messed this country up and the shower we have now are bankrupting everyone aswell . 4 yrs is a long way ahead but right now Reform are probably the closest I align to

If we stopped giving the world on a stick to asylum seekers they wouldn't be so eager to come here. They don't get treated like kings in France.

Yes absolutely

why should they get free health care especially if it is privatised and we have to pay for it

They have indeed.
I don’t know whether it’s the arrogance of believing they are superior and know what’s best for the unwashed masses or there is a sinister agenda to destroy social cohesion and any notion of ‘family’ .

I vote your second theory

User32459 · 27/07/2025 17:41

Lioncub2020 · 27/07/2025 17:36

Which is all why Farage needs a turn. I'm voting reform at the next election.

Sadly Farage is just another Boris Johnson who is all charisma rather than substance. He's good at telling people what's wrong but he hasn't really got any answers.

People will vote Reform just to get rid of Labour and the Tories and there's nothing worth voting for. The one serious MP they had was Rupert Lowe and Farage booted him out.

I'd vote anyone who will actually sort out immigration. Reform will skirt around the edges.

User32459 · 27/07/2025 17:37

suburburban · 27/07/2025 07:11

If the NHS privatises what happens to the people who genuinely can’t pay and the asylum seekers or will they somehow still get free healthcare

Edited

Smashing the gangs isn't a policy, it's a soundbite to pretend that Labour are doing something. Illegal immigration could be largely stopped in 5 minutes if the will was there, but it's not. 'stop the gangs' is nonsense - locking up drug dealers doesn't stop drugs flooding in.

Labour don't want to stop mass immigration - the headlines and public mood are just an inconvenience.

Starmer and Reeves want benefit bill reduced because the country is bankrupt and they have to save money. But Starmer hasn't got the guts to face down his MPs, or the smarts to win them over. He's got a huge majority ffs, it's ineptitude to not be able to get things through a vote.

Lioncub2020 · 26/07/2025 17:44

I voted labour last time as I wanted change. Starmer talked about game before about reducing the welfare bill, smashing the gangs, but has ended up with more of the same. Just more and more people living their best life funded entirely by the state. It's disgusting. Reform is really the only option left. I think we will see a Farage landslide at the end next election, and are already miles ahead is the polls and that is only going to increase with this shit show of a government - backtracking the minute a few people get upset about anything. We need to get the country back to work, and stop bring in foreign labour to mask the worthlessness of some brits.
