Sm has become open day for all the racists. I am second generation immigrant and appalled at the way we are being treated.
I do hope these vile bigots never need our NHS.

Who has blamed migration for school playing fields?

Lots of fickle voters in Britain. Labour inherited a massive mess. Not only did the Tories fuck up the economy, public services and trust in politicians, but they refused to acknowledge this. Labour, led by a decent man, have been left a massive job to rectify this. The only way they can do this is by taking tough decisions. The Winter Fuel Allowance was a benefit paid for based on age- so it meant that Charles in Buckingham Palace got it as he's a pensioner, and my parents got it. They've just come back from staying in one of South East Asia's nicest hotels, and are planning their next trip to India. In short, they didn't need it, and often donated it to either charity, or my family.
Unfortunately, the country couldn't afford to keep paying this non-means tested benefit, which was a Tory bribe to pensioners to vote for them. So it was cut to just the neediest people. Likewise changes to PIP payments- not what most Labour politiicans went into politics to do, but there's no alternative as the country was fucked by Liz Truss and colleagues.
This has nothing to do at all with migration. Britain takes less migrants per capita than many other countries in Europe and worldwide. The easiest way to stop te boats tomorrow is to eastablish safe and legal migration routes from safe and legal migration centres in Europe. Most of the people arriving here by boat are granted asylum- which is pretty tricky given you have to convine a decision maker you are genuine- so are in no way illegal. And it's not illegal to claim asylum in the first place. Why the government isn't standing up to the lies and dog whistle nonsense spouted relentessley by the Daily Mail, I just don't know.
It's pleasing to see that at least in Canada and Australia common sense has prevailed with their elections.
I think a lot of people are going to find out that far right, dog whistle rhetoric doesn't get the bins taken out, doesn't help if your child has SEND, and their will be a lot of voter regret. In the meantime, the boring decency and unfashionable work ethic of Starmer will slowly but surely demonstrate that he is a safe pair of hands for another term in goverment.

I am a primary school teacher in a leafy area in outer London. We have a lovely school field. However, we are no longer able to use it except for Sports Day as we no longer have the staff to allow children on it, due to cuts made by the last government. I'd much rather the school sell it off and employ some TAs, and even bring class sizes below 33.
And you know what, I don't blame migration for this. And I'm so glad we're not in neighbouring Kent- I can't imagine what schools will be like once the Reform council cuts the SEND budget becase Nigel Farage believes too many kids hae SEND.

Donald Trump is single handedly destroying right wing politics in the democratic world. Reform councils will fail even biglier than Trump because Nigel Farage has no idea, no loyalty, no work ethic and no trust in Reform representatives.

The thing that most worries me is that, if Reform are taking their stance from the Republicans under Trump, then they won't respect democracy when they get in, and we won't be able to vote them out again.

I don't know how many of their supporters have thought about it from this angle - I suspect most of them haven't.

Basically, we have no evidence that Reform will act as a loyal opposition - as the Tories, Labour, or any other major party would - and lots of evidence they will be looking to subvert the institutions so they can never be kicked out, by an election at least.

They make alot of flaunting that they are willing to make the same sorts of decisions as Trump's Republicans. Well, if they say that, we should assume they are also willing to undermine democracy.

Basically, if you have, or are considering voting Reform, just think on that. Are you sure you would not be helping to take away the vote from everyone else, and yourself, ultimately. If you know someone thinking to vote Reform, please bring this up with them.

Illegal migrants should not be in the country. The boat people are the problem. Since when have we started to support illegal actions.

Yes you can. The UK is one of the wealthiest and safest countries on the planet. Go to prettyuch by country in Asia, Africa or South America and then you may change your mind.

And do you think Labour are responsible for that? There are significant global issues impacting the economy that are impacting pretty much all countries and 14 years of political instability and voting to isolate ourselves from our nearest trade partners has not helped. There’s no magic wand to fix that and if there was it certainly wouldn’t be Nigel Farage waving it.

Many of their councillors are demonstrably racist. Easy to find out bet checking what they have posted on Facebook. Such as openly admiring hitler or wanting to machine gun people in small boats because they are fed up with immigrants.

And they don’t have to vote for a racist party. There are two other mainstream parties outside labour and tories.

However you/they have voted them into local government so it’s not just a protest vote. It will impact local services and how budgets are allocated. But it won’t limit immigration as those are central policies.

No, I do not believe it is. However, there is an ongoing fundamental change across Europe regarding the rejection of unlimited immigration and socialism. Based on the recent results, it appears that this change is “coming here soon.”

If the majority of people believe immigration is too high (52% in a recent poll), it is likely that many of them hope Reform will actually do something about it.

Dismissing anti-immigration as racist doesn’t address a genuine legitimate concern. Most of the European parties made the same mistake.

And people still mourn the ‘good old days’ 🤷‍♀️ People wanted globalisation so it will be interesting to see how many support what we could lose by turning our backs on it. I’m in favour of British made products, just not sure I can afford them! I also quite like travel which is at risk of becoming much more expensive.

I don't think all people who vote for Reform are necessarily doing so because they are racist. Many are just disillusioned and see it as a protest vote. But they are obviously choosing to vote for Reform despite the racism, so yes, I do think the growing popularity of Reform reflects the fact that racism has become more acceptable in this country. If people weren't willing to turn a blind eye to the racism, they would find another way of registering their disillusionment instead, so they are clearly making the calculation that they just don't care.
