Ex-leader of Reform in Wales accused of taking bribes for pro-Russia messages

" The former leader of Reform UK in Wales appeared in court on Monday accused of accepting bribes in exchange for making statements in the European parliament that would benefit Russia.
Nathan Gill is facing eight counts of bribery and one of conspiracy to commit bribery. The court heard he allegedly received money from former Ukrainian politician Oleg Voloshyn to make statements about events in the country that were supportive of Russia’s narrative, according to the Press Association.
His comments in the European parliament and in articles written for news outlets were “supportive of a particular narrative” that would “benefit Russia regarding events in Ukraine”, the court heard. His media appearances included 112 Ukraine, a pro-Russian channel that was banned by Ukraine in 2021."

I don't understand why it's not on front pages of all accessible news outlets, esp given developments in US.

At WiFi Any Tiff,

It’s possible to quote examples from most parties and governments of back tracking, false promises, etc. Likewise, whenever a new government is elected, all they do is to blame the previous government for the mess they have inherited.

Blame allocation, as opposed to spelling out how problems will tackled, may explain why the turnout at elections has declined from 84% in 1950 to 60% in 2024.

After decades of either a Conservative Party or Labour Party in power, maybe people are moving to Reform in the hope that a party who has never been in power deserves a chance to prove themselves?

Weefreetiffany · 26/02/2025 09:37

Uff that derail was too easy. Lets focus on the outrageous treason please.

GlobeTrotter2000 · 26/02/2025 09:31

To All,

Reform are top of the Polls. As per Talkinpeace, polls are reliable.

Over and out.

If you support Ukraine, you should at least be capable of affording Johnson some credit for his stance on this issue.

Mad thread, everyone just flinging sympathiser posts. This is correct

I note you didn’t say Tory 😂

Labour are seriously shady. Antisemitic, sexist, and I hold them responsible for the grooming gangs cover up.

Funny that... Labour haven't been in power for over 14 years, the Police and justice system are the responsibility of the Govt....

The Tories could and should of sorted out Police inaction on rape gangs, the Tories alone are responsible for the lack of action over the last 14 years.

But it does seem to be a Tory thing to blame the opposition for their own failures.... last week immigration, now its defence and for you, rape gangs.

@TheNuthatch Johnson did well on Ukraine, no one should seek to take that away from him.

That’s got be really annoying for them, they invest all that time and money in bojo and he stabs them in the back.

That’s the Boris we know and despise.

So you are now condemning Johnson for not being a Russian sympathiser? Explain how that is a bad thing?

I think the accusations of Johnson being some kind of Putin puppet need to stop. He may have made some mistakes in the past, but his unwavering support for Ukraine continues to this day. He was one of the first to step forward and support Ukraine.

Absolutely!

BoJo is sooo far from perfect, but he's very much not a putin's muppet.

Dominic Cummings has very strong Russian links and ideologically aligned with Putin, hence his role in Brexit.

But Boris was the strongest ally of Ukraine and there are some, admittedly conspiracy, theories that Putin played a very significant role in his downfall.

Has anyone mentioned Johnson putting the son of one of Putin's inner circle in the HoL (against security service advice) after receiving massive donations to the Tory party yet?
That passed with barely a murmur as well. Can you imagine if Corbyn had done that!

Are you really comparing UK citizens' legal right to protest with an elected official taking bribes to destabilise Britain and Europe @Wildflowers99?

WTAF?🤯🤯🤯

rockstarshoes · 25/02/2025 22:05

How can you compare someone's democratic right to protest with the Leader of a political party taking bribes from Russia! 🤔

Wildflowers99 · 25/02/2025 21:48

crackofdoom · 25/02/2025 21:45

What, you think British lefties are bombing Gaza?! 😆 Whose democracy are we destabilising in regards to Gaza, precisely?!

No. By and large the pro Palestinian protesters are left or far left.

crackofdoom · 25/02/2025 21:45

Wildflowers99 · 25/02/2025 21:43

Well, you do a great job of destabilising democracy with Gaza.

No. On the far right. Nice try with your whataboutery, but nope. I am what you'd call the "far left", and we spend all our time reading books about economics and wringing our hands about biodiversity decline and insufficient social housing. Not taking backhanders from foreign dictators to destabilise our democracy 🙄

There are lots of them, on the far left and far right. It’s a terrifying time for us in the middle.

Edited as not worth it.

Wildflowers99 · 24/02/2025 16:13

Good grief.

Why worry about enemies abroad when we have so many at home at the moment? Including half the public and their self absorption in conspiracy theories/Truth Social.

Are you going to provide a shred of evidence for this claim about Labour members/MPs? I am guessing not.
