What Trump says may not be reflected by US military top brass, Trump has some hurdles to jump before he can convince military generals that Russia is some kind of ally.

My personal view is that we should settle the conflict with concessions from both sides, but the cost of rebuilding the Ukraine should by met by Russia. In exchange for this we could open up some of our markets for Russian businesses. The Ukraine should become a NATO member and only the traditional disputed territories should remain under Russian control.

I've said it before that wars by proxy go on for years and Europe must now weigh up what the next best move is....but we must be decisive and robust. We can not show weakness and if the decision is to defend the Ukraine then we must send our own troops as a show of unity.

You mean America not NATO, it was American arms in disputed regions that gave Russia the excuse. Had NATO committed troops Russia would never had invaded. Russia would lose against NATO end of ...we have superior everything....and lots of it.

Putin is a thug and has no regard for international law, unfortunately the United States seems to be heading in that direction. If you look at the growing number of countries that are now blatantly flaunting our commitments and laws I think you'll agree we are heading towards a dark period of history. South Africa, America, China Israel, Russia....we should be worried.

When you have a president talking about invasions of Canada and Greenland, ethnic cleansing of Gaza and entering peace negotiations without both parties present.

We all accept that the Ukrainian borders may not return to what they were but the idea that they should become Russian and Russia gets to be business as normal beggars belief. Sanctions should stay until Putin is gone and we can have a grown up debate on how the damage can be put right and how we pay for the Ukraine....my opinion is that Russia should pay

How can you safely have wartime elections in a country that has been invaded? How will the people in the occupied areas cast their votes? How will you keep people safe when they assemble at known polling stations? What about when politicians go to vote so their whereabouts are known? What about disruptions to postal services? Etc, etc.

This is blatant Russian propaganda and you know full well that if there was an election and he won then they'd be screaming about how it was unfair because of those questions.

I was just thinking that I don't reckon on Zelenskyy's chances of survival. Putin and Trump can't have a symbol of resistance and integrity left alive.😓

I hope Zelensky can be persuaded to get to somewhere safe out of easy reach for Putin but given he refused to leave his country in order to defend them before and given even Salisbury isn’t safe from that psychopath then I am very concerned for his safety.

Not dead but serving a long sentence in a penal colony for his many crimes as the unelected dictator* of Ukraine (corruption and money-laundering for starters). Same for wifey.

Trump isn’t doing negotiations for the greater good…he wants something …Putin is at least clear with his wants Ukraine to surrender and a puppet election to ensure its Putin that is ‘elected’

My fear is what does Trump want and why….access to minerals that Elon needs cheaply for a battery or something for his rocket, Or is it just to make sure Trump has a further hand on Europe….threat of gas being turned of or access who knows.

Trump said America first what he actually means..is him, his VERY rich mates first and that’s it. He is a dictator and a narcissist. He always has an angle it’s just what is now he is after - and he isn’t thinking of the Ukraine people at all.

I hope Zelensky is around for many, many years to come. However, there's a couple of other presidents I'd like to see choke on their fucking easter eggs.

NATO had been in Ukraine for years before the invasion. It was NATO being in Ukraine that precipitated the invasion. Ukraine needed less NATO not more NATO.

At least Trump can tell whether it is Zelensky or Putin. Biden could not even know who was who? We all saw it Ms America.

he’s in the public eye. He’s involved in one of the most prominent wars in the common era, and it’s incredibly common for people who have pissed off Putin to have freak accidents not long after the event. It would be naive not to think this is the likely outcome.

personally I think they all tread a fine line. Zelensky Included, and I don’t quite see him as the hero that some on here seem to. That doesn’t mean that one would wish death on him, but knowing what we know about Putin we know the possibilities.

As for saying things like “imagine his family were reading this,” that is just pure virtue signalling.

These people live shady lives. They associate daily with people who have the ability and sometimes the wish to do them harm.

When you get involved in this life that’s what you sign up to, and they all know it. So quite aside from the fact that Zelensky's family aren’t reading MN, none of them are going to come across such speculation online and be surprised or upset by it. This is their life and they know how that might end.

And also they have similar capacity to end the lives of others who have gone against them.
