A Christian sermon is now more controversial than a nazi salute! WTF!

Republicans' reactions to Rev Mariann Budde include calls for her to be booted out of the US due to her sermon reminding the congregation (which included Pres. Trump) that the Christian message features some very basic principles such as treating others with humanity and respect. Georgia congressman Mike Collins Budde, a US citizen, “should be added to the deportation list” because of it. So, is the US now a place where people will condemn the basic tenets of Christianity but celebrate a nazi-saluting notorious proponent of trans-humanism (why doesn't Trump call out this frankly creepy and downright wicked pursuit and picks on vulnerable people instead?)? What of freedom of expression? A one-way street? Those who branded the Reverend 'leftist' and closed their ears to her message should not be calling themselves Christians.
One of my good friend lives in Georgia. She told me that one of her local church ministers got told off by his congregation for talking about the ten commandments because 'too leftist'. I shit you not. I don't normally pray - at least not publicly- but really, God help us all!

The only difference is Musk is slightly more angular and stiff in his movements - but then that's his body movements in general. So that difference would be expected. Its the same gesture, in the same context, but slightly delivered differently in someone who has more relaxed body language than in someone who has stiffer more angular body language.

The desperation to see this movement, out of context of what he was in actually talking about, but only in context of your pre-existing belief that people with politics you dislike are nazis, is absolutely blatant.

You believe its the same and I do not.

That's not even remotely akin to what Musk did. Nor it is akin to the Nazi salute. If you can't see the difference, you're being wilfully blind.

Honestly, the apologists for this are just astonishing. We know what he did. He knows exactly what he did. And he's getting away with it.

I form my opinions on the evidence I see in front of me, not on who else thinks what. Its very clear in the context of the speech that the gesture was to extend the heartfelt thanks he was talking about.

Macron does the same and no-one called him a nazi.

I dislike Musk but I value honesty and integrity more than my dislike of any individual.

Calling this a nazi salute makes the left look absolutely bonkers and this type of mad rhetoric from the left is part of the reason the Democrats lost.

If the lesson you took from the recent defeat is that you didn't call people nazi's often enough, then you learnt the wrong lesson.

We've seen it before many times and we just think we are different. But it's happened before and it will happen again.

People need to accept that we are all different and it's not a crime to be different. Christianity teaches tolerance and love. I'm happy to talk to a neo nazi but I have the right to call out his views as deeply wrong. Platforms like Twitter and Facebook should filter out anything hateful, violent and discriminatory...it's no different to having TV content filtered. Young minds need protection from all this noise and learn love and compassion and my view is that the media is hurting vulnerable young minds by imprinting this rubbish from an early age.

Children should be playing, fishing, learning about the world, making friends and being themselves and it's not a politicians job to go on a woke war or attack someone for their views.

I've made my decision that the UK will become one of Trump's battle grounds and I've put my house on the market and I'll be waving my EU passport when I enter Ireland and I ain't coming back.

We've seen it before many times and we just think we are different. But it's happened before and it will happen again.

I totally agree, it's scary but it's the tone of facism. People don't like the truth they just want to hear a tone that sings there song book.

It's scary and it will have a huge impact to those living in Britain. Musk is going to derail the government and put Farage in Number 10....I couldn't bare to live under such leadership.

Im selling up and moving back to Ireland, I'm looking for a simpler life and thankfully I still own my late parents house in County Cork.

It’s obviously not a Nazi salute. Some people are calling it that because it suits their bias that MAGA must be fascist.
X have lots of videos of left wing people doing the gesture eg AOC and Obama but it’s not considered a Nazi salute because they aren’t right wing.
If this was a MN’s son on stage then people would be saying disability discrimination as EM has Asperger’s and his body movement can look awkward and exaggerated to NT onlookers.

I didn't say it did. And as you will be aware - just as with women - violence is under-reported and in many areas not recorded when it is reported. But if we want to start talking about violence against women, we could start with (a) Donald Trump (b) Elon Musk and (c) pretty much the entire Republican Party who have removed the rights of women to determine what happens to their own bodies. It is not a race to the bottom. Any violence is abhorrent, and those who are targetted because of who or what they are have every right to express their fears. And some people are brave enough to speak for them. If you haven't heard of Pastor Neimoller, I am sure that the good Bishop has.

History has a habit of repeating itself as humans don’t learn.

People are so quick to dismiss the comparisons but it is absolutely terrifying the comparisons from the journey of Weimar to Ww2 and America today. I don't know how many can't see they've slow walked into facism.
