Campaigning for candidates is not interfering in elections. Not on the scale of potentially bunging Reform $100 million.
And while I don't believe that Labour will do anything to antagonise the incoming Administration, pandering to someone who openly wants to overthrow the UK government is a bad idea.

I completely agree that this was totally predictable before the election and would equally have applied to the Conservatives, although they did not commit to spending as much as Labour so the impact would have been slightly less.

By contrast (and in order of magnitude) both the Greens, Reform and LibDems promised to spend more so that f they were in Government then the economic situation would be much worse.

I don't actually blame Labour for this - they are only carrying out what they said they would - although I do blame their inability to see the secondary consequences of their actions.

If you want to blame anyone blame the voters that voted for Labour on the basis that they were'nt the Tories and "surely couldn't make things any worse ". The same voters will vote Tory in 2029 with the same logic and find out again the hard way that yes things can get worse.

So the practical conclusion is to up Jess Phillips’ security, substantially.

People can be rude / juvenile but it’ll be for their politicians too so they can’t complain when that happens

I agree that what Musk said is completely out of order, but then I do not believe it is wise to go openly against Musk and or Trump. Not in the best interest of the country and probably better for us to notionally make them US believe there are still some here on their side. The Labour activitists should have never interfered in the US elections as Musk simply sees this as “pay back”. Nor should they be selling off the Chagos islands in this climate, good deal long term or no good deal. If the other side has given you a get out by being too greedy, take the get out.
Labour really need to start listening to the industry experts in Economics, Finance, Graduate Recruitment, Property, Military etc. - it seems like they are overwhelmed and underprepared for the complexity of the job.

The issue is that Labour are now facing economic reality.

As a previous poster correctly summarised Labour have three options (or a combination thereof):
Increase taxation
Cut spending
Increase debt.

Her previous budget increased taxation (notably on employer NI) and increased debt.

The increased debt part is what is leading to higher interest rates (the more you borrow the riskier you are and the higher the interest rates).
The increased NI on employers has led to weaker growth.

Just like Liz Truss found out the hard way (she wanted to cut taxation and fund it through higher debt), the days of simply increasing national debt are gone, it's simply already too big.

So that leaves her the choice of increasing taxation which will weaken economic growth further.

Or significantly cut spending (Austerity 2.0) which will most definitely not go down well with the public sector employees or those that voted Labour.

Sadly a lot of this was completely predictable and stems from both her and KS lack of knowledge and inexperience.

The Chancellor is learning on the job. Hopefully the latest tough lesson (for the whole country because we will all be paying for it) will translate to some introspection and better listening skills, to the economic experts which she can easily tap into, at every turn, should she wish to learn from the experience.
Pretty much the same applies to the Education Secretary and the rest of them. Not too late to learn!

There’s probably a public / private sector spilt in responses with some still thinking they’re doing a great job whereas the impact of contracting private sector is clearer

And the filtering through of that overtime. Pretty much all analysts are pointing to options with spending cuts a main one
