So does "far right" mean you're concerned about the impacts of mass immigration?

Cause I'm far right if so then!

Genuinely interested to hear what people consider as being "far right". I put it in quotation marks cause the term is so over-used incorrectly, it's actually lost all meaning.

I would have a bit of a problem if I went to a village in Brittany and there were no French people there, or a village in Ireland and half the population were from Nigeria, or a district in Nigeria with no Nigerians and all the occupants were from elsewhere. People should not be forced to become minorities in their own homelands without their consent. White English will be a minority in England by 2070 according to the Independent which is hardly a far-right newspaper. You may think that is a good thing, or a bad thing but it is a thing we should be allowed to discuss.

I meant yes white people face discrimination in uk

Do you have evidence to support that? For example, white people being turned down for jobs? Not getting appropriate medical treatment while other races do. Not getting job interviews because of their names?

I'd be interested to see it.

What are your specific concerns about migration?

Of the people came to live in the UK in the year to June 2024,

1.000,000 non-EU nationals
120,000 EU nationals
60,000 British nationals

The main reasons for the increase in non-EU immigration are:

  1. people coming to work legally on work visas, including care workers, doctors and nurses
  2. International students, who come on student visas and pay a lot for studying in the UK.

What do you want politicians to do?

@genesis92 please could you respond - which immigrants you want curbs on?

If you’re genuinely worried about immigration, what action do you want to see politicians taking?

MrsTerryPratchett · 03/01/2025 20:36

@Getmeonaflight I'm not. I'm placing the rape gangs within the context of male violence and lack of conviction. A huge and rampant problem. If you pretend Asians are the issue, rather than men, you will miss the majority of CSA. Are you minimising that.

I do think an educated, data-driven, nuanced, intelligent conversation needs to be had about immigration, culture, work, population, women's rights, and a whole lot of other things. But Elon bloody Musk is not the man to have that conversation.

Trump, Farange, Musk, Robinson and all the others are part of the issue. We need to be intelligent and not let these self serving arseholes make us hate our neighbours, who have far more in common with us than they do.

It's bread and circuses, make no mistake.

If you have a problem being in a room (or plane) and being in the minority in terms of visible ethnicity then the problem is you.

No I don't feel that way. I don't know if the poster does. I believe they're talking about feeling discomfort at how dramatically a place has changed in terms of the people ( culture, identity and language), and the shops and services in that place that was once familiar to them. The change is now unfamiliar to them and in a way they don't relate to ( language, culture, ).

That's ok to say I don't feel comfortable with this.

I'd feel the same if a place that was once familiar to me had changed in a way I didn't recognise or relate to anymore, say if it was primarily Russian now. I don't know if I'd feel ok about it if it were a place that was familiar to me before.

This is why I keep saying, is it not about more here than race?

MrsTerryPratchett · 03/01/2025 20:32

No idea @Nordione1 I didn't ask.

I can tell you, having worked in housing for decades, that there are lots of people not paying for their emergency and other housing through the sweat of their brows who are all ethnicities.

I have worked in shelters where 90% of the workers were Black though. And the NHS, TFL, no idea what we would do with immigration and the children of immigration. Myself included.

The answer is of course yes they were paying for their own hotel unless you were actually in a Korean asylum centre where a load of illegal American or UK immigrants were trying to force their way into Korea.

I find Japan a very interesting example. Small islands like UK with the difference that they are not open to much immigration in order to preserve their culture. They think it's important.

And yet they are also realising that with an aging population and one of the lowest birth rates in the world, they need to increase immigration significantly. Japanese culture is wonderful but is hard for foreigners to penetrate (much like Iceland now I think about it, another place grappling with questions of how many immigrants is too many) so it will be interesting to see how the govt manages it.

SwordToFlamethrower · 03/01/2025 20:33

Multi culturalism absolutely has not worked. I'm a socialist. It's what I'm seeing every day. Birds of a feather flock together... but nowadays even more so, people are squeezing themselves into tinier and tinier identity boxes.

People are being othered more than ever before.

NT vs ND
Men vs Women
Political left and right
Class
Religion

It just gets worse and worse devision every day.

Thailand is full of white child rapists.

MEN are the issue. Now there is a lot of work that needs to be done on the police prioritising women's and girls' safety from SA and DV. That applies to all demographics because the conviction rate is in the toilet.

And police and politicians being keen to avoid investigation and prosecution in all cases means that 'cultural sensitivity' is a good enough excuse to turn a blind eye. But let's make no mistake, there is sex abuse everywhere and white men are at it too.

Don't minimise the rape gangs

I think people who oppose immigration are usually far right. Although I accept that it some cases it may not be completely intentional but rather through ignorance.

What do you mean by "oppose immigration"? Do you mean people who object to all immigration or people who have concerns over numbers?

There’s always been mass migration to these islands, so it’s just your inner prejudices

I keep seeing this posted online but it’s patently not true; until around the middle of the last century Britain was an overwhelmingly white, ethnically homogeneous country. Yes, we’ve had waves of immigration in the past, but the Normans and the Huguenots and so on were a drop in the ocean compared to the numbers we are seeing now.

Until fairly recently I had always considered myself a pretty right-on, left-leaning liberal. But the past few years of mass immigration, along with the rise of trans ideology, have begun to shift my views considerably.

My main concerns around immigration are based around sheer numbers, the impact on our already inadequate and creaking infrastructure and, increasingly, community cohesion (especially issues around women’s rights). This year our family will be seeking to leave the London borough where I grew up, and which has in recent years been transformed by mass immigration by a few specific ethnic groups, who largely have not integrated into mainstream British culture.

I believe in diversity where that diversity means a genuine, broad mix of ethnicities, along with egalitarian, tolerant diversity of thought and opinion. But if we stay where we live now, DD will grow up as one of a small and dwindling group of white British children, and the newly dominant culture and values are no longer ‘hers’. That isn’t what we want for her, and so we are moving on.

So that's pretty much the whole country then, it being the number one concern in the UK.

I was in a hotel in Korea recently. ALL white people. Not a word of Korean spoken. Disgusting.

Were all those white people paying for the hotel themselves out of interest?

Strange interpretation of what I said and proving the ops point. I have no issue with 'forrins' as you put it. I'm concerned with our population growing by close to a million each year due to our housing crisis.

But yes, we do have too many universities and a lot of degrees are unnecessary (including mine 😂). If universities aren't viable without increasing the population by hundreds of thousands per year, then yes they should fail.

I wasn't responding to you.

That's a really good idea. You should write to Starmer and explain that no one cares if universities fail. That only the courses you approve of are worthwhile and we don't need more forrins.
