I’ll believe it when I see it, and I’ve just seen an article that MPs are claiming hundreds of thousands of tax payer money for second homes so it’s not looking likely.

Just seen? This has been going on for years, and the public seems to be okay with it all.

£450 a month worse off due to VAT on school fees.
No discretionary spending at all in this household until our children move back to State schools starting this Sept.
Really great for the economy!

JoyousPinkPeer · 01/01/2025 18:41

I dont beleive it either. Sky news is saying we are going to be paying more (water, council tax...).

They should not be able to blatantly lie, just pisses me off!

I guess some people will have more money in their pockets. No doubt the rest of us will be paying for it.
I am expecting to probably have no job once the NI increases kick in as the charity I work for has said they will not be able to absorb the extra costs.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 01/01/2025 18:36

Yeah right!

twistyizzy · 01/01/2025 18:35

Well he is lying because I'm paying an additional 20% tax per year which works out at 3K ish.
If you go on holiday abroad you will be worse off.
Heating bills due to rise
Potential of a recession etc etc

Sasskitty · 01/01/2025 18:34

Really? That Is exciting. I can’t wait for further details.

Elphame · 01/01/2025 18:33

That’s nothing new at all! MPs have always been entitled to claim for second homes.

Chewbecca · 01/01/2025 18:32

No, I don't believe that, not for me anyway (a tax paying early retiree with zero benefits).

Justcallmebebes · 01/01/2025 18:31

Ha ha ha ha

He's a liar and I will believe when I see it.

Cosmosforbreakfast · 01/01/2025 18:28

He's always been a liar, not going to start believing him now.
