Why do some people think Trump is a good man?

There are a lot of people, even in the UK who act like you have offended their mum or dad if you point out what an awful person he clearly is. Even his own family don't like him and plenty of people have said how his relationships with his own children are merely transactional.

If people like him, is it because they are fascists themselves deep down? Or is it some type of mass hysteria?

Robert E Lee is a very well respected general admired by both sides of the Civil War and as such, his statue is worth defending.

If you can’t understand this, maybe you should not be commenting on American politics

Robert E Lee was a traitor waging war against the US government.

The minimising of the insurection has been quite amusing. I've seen it described as a 'handful of tourists. '

IKR, I've seen it described as something caused by ANTIFA. The delusion is another level.

Here’s the transcript. He said nothing of the sort: https://www.politifact.com/article/2019/apr/26/context-trumps-very-fine-people-both-sides-remarks/

And it’s ridiculous to say there was a Muslim ban. It was a ban on refugees from countries with a terrorism problem (remember ISIS) and only involved countries with a known threat. And it was an executive order that was crafted by Obama, so you could say it was bipartisan.

That you link from Amnesty of all places is hilarious though, such a biased source.

I guess the Muslim ban would be a big surprise to Indonesia, Bangladesh and Malaysia. How could he have forgotten the most populous Muslim nation in the world???!!!????

You say "He said nothing of the sort" then include a link that shows I'm bold type that he said there were some very fine people in both sides. I already knew what he said in what context as I watched the interview at the time.

You say it's ridiculous to say there was a Muslim Ban, Trump's own aids called it a Muslim ban. It wasn't only refugees that were banned but all nationals from certain countries. What sort of person bans refugees anyway? en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trump_travel_ban

Yes, pesky old Amnesty International, defending people's human rights.

You carry on defending Trump but many of us see him for what he is.

Reading that politifact transcript- fucking hell. Trump's focus was entirely to pretend he could defend a group who apparently had nothing at all to do with the protesting Nazis they were there with, but were there to try and keep statues of Robert E Lee up. You know who tries to keep the narrative about Robert E Lee going? Racists who regret the Confederacy, that's who. Racists and birthers like Trump. Imagine spending so much energy saying that Tweedledum was very fine but Tweedledee wasn't.

Well, I do get it. Tbh I like Starmer's ruthlessness and his focus, and I don't think he's a perfect angel either, though I do think he shouldn't give up trying to explain what he's doing - like his work at the momentto build and rebuild international relationships that ae essential to an exposed trading island like us. I've read quote after quote from US voters who say 'I don't like Trump or anything he says but I believe he will do things I want' and that's fine - except people make it sound like a continuum. Like accepting a suit from a donor and not declaring it quickly enough is the same as INCITING A VIOLENT INSURRECTION TO AVOID CONCEDING AN ELECTION. These things are not the same.

God RingoJuice do you wear sunglasses when you read the news? I suppose at least you didn't deny that he mocked a reporter with cerebral palsy, like the bully he is.

I don’t feel the need to defend everything he does. I don’t need my leader to be some upstanding moral character. That way leads to leaders like Jimmy Carter and Kier Starmer. Nice men, bad policies.

I want the most effective leader and I believed Trump would be effective on the issues I care about. End of story.

Erm, why are you denying these facts? If you're going to support him, at least be aware of who he is.

There was a Muslim ban: www.amnesty.org.uk/licence-discriminate-trumps-muslim-refugee-ban

He did say there were very fine people amongst the white supremacists: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unite_the_Right_rally

We all know what happened with the riot.

You're wrong about climate change.

I think if people are weak or desperate they want a strong man daddy figure to make it all ok for them. I kind of get it.

He never called white supremacists very fine people, there was never a Muslim ban, he didn’t incite a riot, denying the climate ‘crisis’ is a good thing tbh

I don't base my opinion on Trump on what's said in the MSM. I base it on things he's actually said. Footage of him mocking a disabled journalist, saying he'd be dating his daughter if she wasn't his daughter, saying many white supremacists are very fine people, banning Muslims from entering the country, inciting a riot, denying the climate crisis. The list is endless. Everything he says, everything he stands for, is repellent to me.

Lyannaa · 25/11/2024 04:09

Balance, yes. I'm sure that can be achieved with Trump having surrounded himself with a bunch of clowns who have no business working in politics(!)

I never like Trump but I'm glad he won because the pendulum has swung so far to the left to the realm of insanity for example with gender ideology that the Democrats have been peddling that I hope him winning will bring some balance.

Return to free speech (the world is laughing at our hate speech laws)
End of the whole woke nonsense - sex is binary
Firm up the borders and deport foreign criminals - out with the ECHR
More support for British companies
Just a few for now

You want to get rid off hate speech laws and human rights.

More support for British companies to do what? Do you want to get rid off statutory rights as well?

There are plenty of countries that don't have human rights and where you're free to incite as much hate as you can muster. Have you thought about moving?

FrippEnos · 25/11/2024 00:04

TankFlyBossW4lk · 24/11/2024 20:40

Oh Fripp. It's not drivel , it's the truth. Hard to hear the truth being spoken about your idol ? Sorry if it hurts.

Again read what I wrote, but that seems to be beyond your capabilities.
But at least you are proving my point that some people don't want to change people's views, just push their BS on to them.

But I will let you get back to your baiting.

The world isn't laughing at our laws, in fact many people envy them.

We do deport foreign criminals.

Which human rights do you want to do without?

78 million people voted for Trump - the Democrats have made a feckin mess over the last 4 years so looking at Team Trump now I would think those 78 million are grinning all over their faces - and jolly good luck to em, what happens in the US usually trickles over here and I can't bloody wait

What is it you can't wait for?

I think I answered the original question of why some people like trump. Sorry for those of you who feel another way. Many people are feeling very positive for the first time in ages.

I hope you all get to see that this is a good thing for all of us. Good luck all!

Is Kool Aid sugar free now?

I think GOPHQ has entered the chat.

They don't realise that we can actually see his gibbering loony tantrum-prone speeches over here, we don't need it mediated. We know that Dirty Donald only cares about himself because that's pretty much all he talks about. That post would be comical if it wasn't so sad that someone can actually believe all that crap.

It is a shame that you continued with your insults yet didn't read my next post.
Reading my next post may have saved you the indignity of posting drivel about me supporting trump.

But you do you.

TankFlyBossW4lk · 24/11/2024 20:09

@Usinlimbo and @FrippEnos

Limbo 's post is so full of factual inaccuracies that it's difficult to know where to begin. But just because it's been so widely documented, he's discriminated against Black people, denying them tenancies in his properties. Just because Fripp thinks the lies are true, or just wants them to be true, it doesn't mean they are not downright lies.

I find the this thread and so many about Trump utterly bizarre. Someone posts a series of lies and then like minded posters just pile on saying how it's the truth. Presumably we're working on the old, a lie that's said a thousand times becomes the truth.

Just stop lying. If you want to support a child molesting, sexual deviant, misogynist, white supremacist, insurrectionist who is frankly self serving and lacking in basic understanding of many things , go for your life. But stop with the faux outrage when others call this 'thick as mince' leader out for what he is.

I'm totally with the poster that mentioned Kool Aid. There must be something in the water that Limbo and Fripp are drinking.
