Some Trump supporters already feeling voter's remorse

The information may well have been made available but it wasn’t expressed in a clear or accessible way. That’s why so few people understood the downside of Brexit. Communication from Remainers was poor.

I was aware of it and the information was available should you wish to look. The problem was that anyone who countered the lies and misinformation was accused of being part of Project Fear and people were advised not to listen to experts.

Millions voted against Brexit and many knew of the repercussions. People in NI obviously spoke out at the time.

I think when such a complex issue such as the economic, political and practical consequences of leaving the EU is concerned the average voter could actually do with a bit of humility. You had people without a GCSE to their name confidently stating that the governor of the Bank of England didn't have a clue what he was on about and was wrong.

Brexit was so complex, the idea that an ordinary person like me was in any way qualified to make such a decision is laughable but the population were manipulated into thinking they knew all about it. Add in a big group who thought they were voting to just get rid of foreigners.
The vast, vast majority of experts, across every area affected, said brexit was a terrible idea. The 'know it alls' should have just listened to them instead of thinking they know better.

I don’t think it was made clear enough what the benefits of being in the EU were and what the drawbacks of leaving would be. I voted to remain because I was scared of the prospect of recession and I love European culture, but I did not fully understand about the problems Brexit would cause. For example I only really understood British people would lose the right to live and work in Europe and that students would lose the right to study in Europe after it happened. I wasn’t clear about the problems Brexit would create for Ireland/Northern Ireland etc etc. I watch the news and read the papers at least as much as the average person and I promise you all the repercussions of voting for Brexit were not spelt out clearly.

I lived in America in the 1980s when Japan was the big boggy man. I remember a widely reported survey at the time with the question -
Would you rather -
A. The American economy grew at 2% and the Japanese grew at 2.5%
Or
B. The American economy shrunk at 2% and the Japanese economy shrunk at 2.5%.

Most answered B by a big margin so maybe Trump supporters are happy to tank their own economy as long as other countries suffer more ?

Resentment of the Others (feared by the white Midwest Americans) doing too well, according to this. They see this as a zero sum game, so minorities doing well economically to them means they are being cheated out of something.

People relate to him. What happened was people were fed up with the status quo. It didn't seem to matter who was in power, nothing much changed.

Trump was the wild card because Clinton just represented more of the same. He connected to the working class and promised to make their lives better. He was going to rebuild American industry and keep out immigrants.

'I'm gonna build a wall and I'm gonna bring back American production.' This was particularly appealing to those in the rust belt.

This time round Trump promised to MAGA and he was gonna round up illegals, keep women safe, bring down the price of food and fuel, bring back jobs, get rid off discrimination against white men and stop the woke agenda.

He promised to fix every single thing wrong with America and people want to believe that.

True. Johnson was smart enough to act like an ignorant buffoon and Trump is one. I suppose Johnson had to in order to be able to do things like completely reverse his stance on Brexit. But the fact is, the people liked it in both cases, or enough of them did to hand them power. Hopefully Johnson isn't eyeing up Trump's comeback...

Labour voter here, and no voter remorse. The Tories were already a shitshow and getting worse, so they wouldn't have been any better.

(And Farages wife is German. He took advantage and got an EU passport. Hypocrisy rules with him. Rules are for the little people, not him and his ilk. Vote for him at your peril.

If you’d been raised in the US under the idea of a democratic society, I think to live under Trump the pussy grabber would be humiliating. I feel sorry for them.

Which is always a sign of a progressive society. Though to its credit, Florida has some of the strictest child marriage laws in the States.

Farage. Such a great idea to get rid of immigrants. Then we can pass a law like Florida, to fill the empty jobs by making child labour great again. The bill even allows employers to schedule 14 and 15 year olds for overnight shifts. Just think how much the parents can save by not needing bedrooms for them!
