Women of MN - What do you like about Trump?

He couldn’t have been voted in without the support of women. As a non-Trump fan myself, I’m wondering what is it you like about him? This applies to non-US voters who favour him and would vote for him if possible.

@InterestQ

"I’m really interested in why people voted for Trump and I really appreciate those answering honestly for sticking their head above the parapet to give a full response as there are a gazillion threads slagging him off and I SO want to know what the reasoning is."

Jonathan Pie explains it fairly well:

Racism.

Rampant xenophobia.

Internalised misogyny.

Hating and fearing transgender people.

Greed

That he's old and very unhealthy, so might die soon.

Terrible that I’m hoping we’ll be rid of him one day. I do wonder who would replace him though… he’s set the precedent for anyone with a devious enough mind.

Then I guess you'll just have to live with being reported if you go on calling people names. I don't know what else to tell you. 🤷

Well it was directed to you, so purpose served anyway.

XChrome · 07/11/2024 21:15

chumpt · 07/11/2024 21:07

No I don’t, sounds the same to me. Insults are insults.

I’m really interested in why people voted for Trump and I really appreciate those answering honestly for sticking their head above the parapet to give a full response as there are a gazillion threads slagging him off and I SO want to know what the reasoning is. And I also appreciate the reasoned arguments in response that aren’t just variations on a theme of a sneering “Wow”.

Why people voted for Kamala would also be interesting but Trump is so polarising, that a lot of people will have voted for her as “Not Trump” so I want to know the policies and things that he has said and done that are viewed as positive or essential. It is really worth finding out - not just screaming the reasons down. It’s how people think - just because it’s different, doesn’t meant they don’t get to vote. Their votes count. How can the Democrats learn?

It was reported? Not by me, as I said.
What you don't understand is that it is not a violation to say that a point somebody is making is stupid or laughable. It is, however, a violation to insult somebody as a person. Just confine your ire to the points being made rather than the people themselves.

Of course not, because if those women had just “kept their legs shut” it would never have happened, which is what it boils down to really. 😕

Indeed. It's about punishing women for having sex for our own pleasure rather than to please a husband and produce offspring.

chumpt · 07/11/2024 09:35

It’s very ironic why my post being reported, whilst others remained. I used idiot and moron, similar words to stupid, bullshit, laughable, and mine got reported, because of what? I have a different view that I think people should reflect on how come so many voters been pushed to vote trump. Something needs to be reflected and acted upon, before extreme right spread further.

just a example of how it make people FEEL. As you have clearly felt. whoever did clearly didn’t understand the point.

No idea what you're trying to say there. I have supposedly felt what? What is an example of how people feel, what are the feelings and what are they about? Please try to be clearer.

Newsenmum · 07/11/2024 20:27

I agree with you. I’m just explaining that saying something should be legal because ‘people will do it anyway’ isn’t necessarily a reason.

Of course - this is simply a way to control women's freedom. Do not have sex before marriage, and once married, do not do anything else other than produce babies.

localnotail · 07/11/2024 17:39

Newsenmum · 07/11/2024 15:03

I completely agree that there needs to be a LOT of funding to support these babies.

Although with your final point, you could argue it’s like the prostitution and surrogacy arguments which a lot of mumsnetters hate of ‘legalise it purely because it happens anyway’.

I completely disagree - abortion is not like prostitution or surrogacy as its not as simple - its not a question of choice. For many, its a question of life and death, of ruined lives and unwanted children. You can chose not to become a prostitute (not taking into account sex trafficking here) or to use a surrogate - but you can't chose not to fall pregnant once you have sex - even if you were not forced to do that, there is not contraception available that is 100% failproof. There will always be unwanted pregnancies. To me, abortion is better than unwanted children.

RingoJuice · 07/11/2024 17:28

Meh. I don’t care if the state executes murderers. They cannot be rehabilitated nor would I ever take that risk.

Newsenmum · 07/11/2024 17:11

Newsenmum · 07/11/2024 17:10

because putting people to death is creepy?

I’ll rephrase. Killing people is creepy.

Newsenmum · 07/11/2024 17:10

RingoJuice · 07/11/2024 16:47

Why?

because putting people to death is creepy?

RingoJuice · 07/11/2024 16:47

Newsenmum · 07/11/2024 15:07

I’ll admit though, all this death penalty stuff is pretty creepy. 😳

Why?

FlatWhiteExtraHot · 07/11/2024 16:05

localnotail · 06/11/2024 21:38

Anti-abortions are in most cases the same people who think there should be no free healthcare, no welfare, no free schools - so, basically, they care so, so, sooooo much about baby's life that they dont give a shit about it after its born. Woman wanted an abortion as she is poor and already has too many kids? Who cares. Woman was raped - who cares. Girl is a teenager who cant look after the child - who cares. Woman is ill and the pregnancy is dangerous for both - who cares. Foetus is deformed and will die as soon as its born - who cares.

But once its out, its literally not their problem, and most of them would be only too happy to see it executed further down the line if the said former baby turns to the life of crime as a result of shit poor upbringing, no education and total lack of any meaningful opportunity in life.

Such lovely people, care so passionately about foetuses but dont give a fuck about women and their already living kids.

I get that immigration is turning a lot of voters to the right. In this particular case, people could’ve abstained from voting if they didn’t like Harris or democrats. Trump is a nut case. A dangerous and angry nut case that will not listen to any adults this time around. He didn’t hide it. It was there for all to see amidst his soundbites. But it seems there are a lot of emotional people who share his anger. It is depressing and a bit frightening.

I think they did abstain. A number of democrats did.

Brefugee · 07/11/2024 10:36

if you genuinely think an unborn child is a child, then he or she comes before everything. And yes they will come before the woman carrying them - even if they circumstance is distressing for the woman.

But @Newsenmum it is more likely to be non viable or already "dying" fœtus. Anyone who puts that over their own life is batshit. Because then both are gone. When that woman already has children it is catastrophic

I could be wrong but pretty sure you could abort a Down’s syndrome baby very late term?

Newsenmum · 07/11/2024 15:03

localnotail · 06/11/2024 21:46

If you are "pro-life" and want the state to control women's reproductive function you should only be too happy to pay higher tax to support children who end up in foster homes and who will need the state to look after them - and to make sure they grow up into adults who are not a burden on society. Unless you want to have tens of thousands of abandons ill kids dumped in orphanages and massive crime problem from gangs of feral street kids.

Edited: that is, after you pass the small issue of scores of young females dying as a result of backstreet abortions. Look to Romania for reference.
