Women of MN - What do you like about Trump?

He couldn’t have been voted in without the support of women. As a non-Trump fan myself, I’m wondering what is it you like about him? This applies to non-US voters who favour him and would vote for him if possible.

That's not even accounting for the fact that black criminals are more likely to be arrested than white criminals.

Our findings reveal that, on average, when two offenders of different races commit the same offense together against the same victim, Black offenders are significantly more likely to be arrested than their White co-offending partners, especially for assault offenses.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10321492/

Isn’t it likely that the co-offending partner is likely to be a woman, so she’s not going to get the same kind of sentence?

Anyway. I really just want safe streets. You telling me I deserve to live with violence because of the crimes of my ancestors…is not helpful.

@SailorSong you don’t think he is condescending

So, you consider rape to be so heinous that you would be OK with the state killing someone for it, but you would still force the victim to have a baby that resulted from it, with all the mental trauma that is likely to cause? Right.

Yes, this. In Trump's world my brother would have faced the death penalty, I'd have been forced to birth his children. I quite possibly would have ended my own life as a result. So my parents would have lost 2 DC.

Now the situation we have here where he effectively got away with it isn't great. But I personally wouldn't have wanted him killed for what he did.

In answer to @ShinyTime's question. I wouldn't vote for him in a month of Sundays. I can't stand the man. But I like that he knows the difference between men and women.

How would home schooling as a rule rather than exception work when in the majority of families parents go to work - earn money, have a career etc

Because @batt3nb3rg is anti women and expects that women will pick up this task.

So, @batt3nb3rg … “Unfortunately there are no circumstances in which I can be okay with a baby being killed even where the mother’s life is in danger…” For this sentence alone you need an education. I sincerely hope you have no daughters or granddaughters.

How about refuting the statistic instead of clutching your pearls?

His appointment of the first female White House Chief of Staff.

His clear and emphatic rejection of gender ideology.

The strength of personality that lets him push through the tightening bonds of what elites and media deem acceptable points to discuss. He shifts Overton's Window. He doesn't condescend to his fellow citizens.

Some of us want to understand WHY bad things happen in order to change them

You can try to address root causes while locking up criminals. It’s not either/or.

@Ringojuice that's a really bizarre comment.
You're obviously far right and a xenophobe, but not everyone is focused on vengeance like you. Some of us want to understand WHY bad things happen in order to change them.

Sorry but it’s a revelation to live in a proper urban environment abroad and not have to worry about getting shot or mugged. I wish it wasn’t like that in America.

And basically you are sitting here saying ‘it’s not so bad’!

Yeah, it’s actually pretty fucking bad.

RingoJuice · 07/11/2024 23:04

It’s also amazing that people who denigrate America as an awful violent place will, at the same time, pull this ‘well ackshully, it’s not as violent as you think!’ bullshit.

It’s violent! We all know it! And we want to fucking fix that.

What's Trump doing about guns?

izimbra · 08/11/2024 00:04

Starts off as a civilised thread. Like many threads on Mumsnet these days soon descends into an alt-right fascist fest.

Bizarre.

Trumps win has definitely emboldened the far right across the world, as we all knew it would.

"• A 2023 National Bureau of Economic Research study found that immigrants are 60% less likely to be incarcerated than US-born citizens.
• A study of Texas data from 2012 to 2018 found that undocumented immigrants were arrested at less than half the rate of native-born US citizens for violent and drug crimes.

Maybe America needs some more immigrants to dilute the violent tendencies of US born citizens. Hmm

Well East Asians actually commit crimes at a lower rate than white Americans. So you have a point there. And they tend to immigrate legally.

However. Unvetted male migrants are a source of crime in the United States that is easy to solve.

I can’t speak for the UK.

But 13% of the American population is black. They commit 50% of the murders in America.

That’s a hard statistic, and something UK/Europeans do not have to deal with.

Nor do you have to deal with cartel violence. Now this violence doesn’t really affect normal people, but it does swell our prison population.

Sweden is dealing with a fraction of the amount of violence that Americans have to live with, and they are already throwing the towel on their little multicultural project.

White supremacist propaganda alert.

13/52 and 13/90 are racist numeric codes used by white supremacists to portray African Americans as savage and criminal. White supremacists claim that Blacks make up only 13% of the U.S. population but commit 52% of all murders and 90% of all violent i...

Ringojuice, why do you think black communities that were subject to centuries of extreme violence, rape and subjugation through slavery & Jim Crow (the latter within living memory) are more crime ridden?

So you basically think Americans deserve to be placed at a higher risk of rape and murder from this demographic? At least you are being honest I suppose.

XChrome · 07/11/2024 23:57

crumblingschools · 07/11/2024 23:10

@Deja321 many countries including England have suffered cost of living crisis in the last few years. If Trump had been in office in the last few years I’m sure costs would still have risen

The US under Biden actually had the quickest recovery from the economic hardships caused by the pandemic of any country. That's a fact, but I have found that you can't get Trumpers to respond to facts. They based their beliefs mostly on their emotional need for a strongman to protect them from the threats the strongman has convinced them they will face without him.

Is that why violent crime is falling in the UK?

Demographics. It’s stark and something Europe never has had to deal with until very, very recently.

"I like his total support of US manufacturing"

eu.statesman.com/story/news/politics/elections/2020/10/01/fact-check-did-trump-overstate-manufacturing-job-gains-during-debate/114197350/

"Manufacturing output rose during the first year and a half of Trump's presidency, but at a rate not much faster than during most of Obama's presidency. And after that, output stagnated or even declined slightly."

He talks the talk though, and that's obviously worked on you, and all the other people who never fact check him.

"Donald Trump Built a National Debt So Big (Even Before the Pandemic) That It’ll Weigh Down the Economy for Years"

He's going to make it as large as possible with further enormous tax cuts.

And that provides an economic rationale for Project 2025's agenda of giant cuts to social security and Medicare, which are planned.

Parker231 · 07/11/2024 23:13

Deja321 · 07/11/2024 23:01

I think he's brave to keep going with the media and establishment going after him. I would have given up.
I like that no new wars started when he was president and alot of Americans say they were financially better off under Trump. He seemed to have good relationships with other world leaders.

I don’t think he’s brave dealing with the media - it’s his job and he intentionally inflames the situation.,

His relationship with Putin might be good but don’t class that as a positive when you consider Ukraine.,

The Washington Post reported-
Donald Trump Built a National Debt So Big (Even Before the Pandemic) That It’ll Weigh Down the Economy for Years
The “King of Debt” promised to reduce the national debt — then his tax cuts made it surge. Add in the pandemic, and he oversaw the third-biggest deficit increase of any president.
