Women of MN - What do you like about Trump?

ShinyTime · 06/11/2024 09:37

He couldn’t have been voted in without the support of women. As a non-Trump fan myself, I’m wondering what is it you like about him? This applies to non-US voters who favour him and would vote for him if possible.

Nothing.

I think younger conservatives are embracing abortion, so we will end up being pro-choice, pro-gun and pro death penalty. Harsh but fair. It seems a very American stance tbh

Why are you pro death penalty, if I may ask?

Someone else I saw said ‘why would I vote for the party that criminals, ‘illegal’ immigrants and drug addicts vote for’. Oh and a lot fear of how gender is being taught in schools. Again, it’s just so extreme over there. I am pro gay rights but this woman was showing gay books for BABIES. It was so extreme. So I can totally see why a lot of right wingers see it as grooming. And then homophobia increases. People are scared and poor and crime is high. And they’re angry at the establishment.

Sorry, what do you mean by a 'gay book'? A book w a character who incidentally had 2 mums or 2 dads?

Or something talking about sexuality? That is wrong obvs

@LoveSandbanks because it’s babies. Think about it - if you genuinely think an unborn child is a child, then he or she comes before everything. And yes they will come before the woman carrying them - even if they circumstance is distressing for the woman. Many women would die for their child. The baby always comes first. And I can sympathise with this view, even if I do not agree with it in reality.

I personally find late term abortion extremely difficult and although I wouldn’t call myself pro life, I’m increasingly finding it hard to call myself 100% pro choice when I realise this would include late term abortions. There are points where I think yep, the baby actually has to come first. Unless the woman is actually going to die, at 30 weeks the baby shouldn’t have to. I am conflicted about this of course and I know it is said with privilege.

Edited

Interesting. I appreciate that they see the foetus the same as a full grown baby, even less than one week in. But don't they have ANY sympathy, at least, for the bodily violation of going through labour and pregnancy when you don't want that? Let alone the bodily violation that a rape victim who did not want to carry a pregnancy to term would feel, in cases of rape?

Again, nobody elected them and nobody campaigned on national abortion bans or restricting access to contraceptives.

Nobody is going to write or promote any such law. But go ahead and keep stuffing that straw man.

What are you talking about? The people promoting it have closed ties to Trump and his campaign, and some will likely be in his cabinet.

Trump's campaign team literally said their plans align with that of Trump's plans

Nearly two-thirds of the authors and editors of Project 2025 served in the previous Trump administration.

The Washington Post reported on regular communication between Project 2025 and Trump campaign advisers. In April 2024, Project 2025 senior advisor John McEntee said that they and the Trump campaign planned to "integrate a lot of our work".

Keep your head in the sand if you want.

They are a think tank, nobody elected them at all. Nobody who was elected into federal office has mentioned an abortion ban, definitely NEVER said anything about banning Plan B or contraception.

Do you like making up straw men in your spare time?

I never said Trump said those things. The Heritage Foundation is saying those things, they are the ones who will try to introduce them.
I'm saying Trump won't care or try to stop them.

These are all stated aims of Project 2025 and the Heritage Foundation and they absolutely will try to put them in place. Trump won't care, he just wants to be President.

Did you believe Kavanaugh when he said Roe v Wade was settled precedent right before he voted it down?

Christian Nationalism is the real agenda for the next 4 years. Trump is just the means to the end.

Enjoy your national abortion ban, morning after pill ban, and restricted access to contraceptives

Please show Trump promoting any of those positions. He had not.

He ruled out a national abortion ban, which in fact cost him votes among the Christian right.

Please. I’m begging you to find anything that Trump has said that supports what you are saying here. Because I think you’ll find that you can’t …

Haven't RTFT but am pleased and relieved he won. Why?

The Dems are deeply infected by the woke trans ideology and Critical Race Theory/DEI. It is extremely damaging for women and children to promote the idea that any man can self ID as woman and invade all women's and girls single sex spaces and sports. DEI promotes mediocrity and is deeply racist. Trump will deal with these ideological beliefs and begin to reverse the damage done. He will reinstate border controls, very important to any country. We only want people who apply legitimately to become citizens. We have a right to vet them all. These the are main reasons.

Enjoy your national abortion ban, morning after pill ban, and restricted access to contraceptives.

'your body, my choice' is a slogan you'll be seeing a lot more of.

They're absolute weirdos. They usually believe in the death penalty, women and children dying through forced birth and love guns even though they kill tens of thousands of people including children.

Exactly so. It's why I call them forced birthers. It's literally what they are.

You can't in all conscience call yourself "pro life" if you will sacrifice the life of the mother to protect the unborn child.

You can't call yourself "pro baby" if you wash your hands of supporting disabled/poor/abandoned babies once they are born

You are "pro forced birth" if you support the delivery of a child regardless of the circumstances and the risk to the mother.

Exactly so. It's why I call them forced birthers. It's literally what they are.

Gangs don’t tend to be multiracial. But couples often are and the study goes out of its way to reference mixed gender offenders. But never puts forth that an opposite gender partner might result in a white partner getting a lesser sentence.

You are the one seething over basic statistics. You want to call simple numbers ‘racist’ which is pretty telling tbh. Facts themselves aren’t racist.

Well, if you're going to outright lie and claim I said things I never actually said, it shows you either aren't an honest, ethical person or are deluded. Not meaning to be rude, it's just that in that case I don't see the point in conversing with you further.

Zonder · 08/11/2024 18:36

It doesn't depend on the country. There are clear ideological definitions.

I know it's wiki but this might help:

Generally, the left wing is characterized by an emphasis on "ideas such as freedom, equality, fraternity, rights, progress, reform and internationalism" while the right wing is characterized by an emphasis on "notions such as authority, hierarchy, order, duty, tradition, reaction and nationalism".

Political scientists and other analysts usually regard the left as including anarchists, communists, socialists, democratic socialists, social democrats, left-libertarians, progressives, and social liberals. Movements for racial equality,as well as trade unionism, have also been associated with the left.

Political scientists and other analysts usually regard the right as including conservatives (among whom there are many strains, including traditionalist conservatism, libertarian conservatism, neoconservatism, and ultraconservatism right-libertarians, anarcho-capitalists, monarchists, fascists, and reactionaries.

@izimbra

"There isn't really a 'left' in the US.

The Democrats are a centrist party.

The Trumplicans are far right"

By UK or European standards you are correct.

But by US standards the Democrats are see as "far left " and the Republicans seen as simply "right wing ".

In my the same way as if a socialist party such as the Labour Party or Democrats were ever allowed to exist in say communist Cuba then they would be viewed as far right.

It depends on the country.

No point - because you won't engage with the reality that transgender people are and will always be a tiny marginalised group of people and that acknowledging this is central to having a useful conversation about this issue.

It's why transphobes won't use the term 'trans woman' or 'transgender'. You need to say 'man in a dress' or 'trans identifying man' - because this shifts the locus of the argument away from considering the ramifications of being inclusive to a tiny marginalised group of people, to a different one, which is the oppression of women (both transgender and cisgender) by cis gender men, who are 49.9% of the population.

No, I've completely engaged. I've used the term trans women, I acknowledge they exist and have the right to live in a way that feels most authentic to them in terms of dress and presentation, they have the same rights as you and I. Trans identifying man is the correct terminology. You can’t change sex.

You won't answer any simple questions on why I have to adhere to an ideology I don't believe in, why men should be allowed to compete in women's sports and be allowed in their single sex spaces? Why is their feelings more important because they have e a 'gender identify that doesn't align with their sex'. I don't believe in gender ideology that's why I've '.

Shouting down people as 'transphobes' does you no good at all when you've been told repeatedly it's women's rights to sex based spaces and not medicalising children. That doesn’t make people transphobes.

You're still peddling this on other threads.

Why don't you engage?

You can be an immigrant PoC-as I am- be fiercely GC- as I am- and still believe that even if Trump knows what a woman he is, he and the rest of his party treats them like shit.

And that's why I wouldn't vote for him. His anti women stance is more worrying to me than any promises he may have made about single sex spaces.

Moot, as I'm not American.

Namechangeforadhd · 08/11/2024 10:39

An article about why we can't be inclusive of transgender people that can't use the word 'transgender' or 'transwoman'.

Typical GC bollox.

Why can't you answer anything put to you?

You should enter competitions with the amount of side stepping you're doing.
