I’m happy to bring the debate to MN for now thanks @Queensguide - I’m still waiting to see if KS will show any leadership on the matter or whether he will continue to condone her remarks by his silence. If he continues to turn a blind eye to the bigotry of his own MP then I might raise it with my MP, we’ll see.

Dawn Butler isn’t the sharpest tool in the box and her retweet was not advisable.

However as the Tory’s voted for a man who wrote and said many deeply racist comments, to be their leader, and then the country voted for him to be PM, I doubt most people will think Dawns comment is punishable.

This is the strangest post on this thread. So you are saying because Boris Johnson wrote something, the Labour Party can be as racist as they like going forward and no one should raise an eyebrow. Because the other boy did it too?

Can I clarify I am not in the least suggesting that the majority of labour voters subscribe to Dawn Butler’s horrific view, not at all. But her retweet, and KS’s failure to address such an offensive message brings the government into disrepute.

Well, she's wasnt in Government when she said it, is not in Government and won't be for 4.5 years so let's see what the current shower come up with. Probably something horrendous on current performance.

366,000 people are members of the Labour party.
Nearly 10 million people voted Labour at the last election.
There are lots of very good people amongst those groups and many Labour MPs devote their whole careers to working for their communities.

Angela Rayner has to have panic buttons in her family home (she's had death and rape threats) because of the kind of hatred directed towards politicians. This kind of division from either side is harmful to our democracy and gets us nowhere.
