I don’t understand why people keep banging on about BJ or demanding 14 years worth of Tory policy as evidence before admitting that what she re-tweeted was vile. Why can’t you just admit what she retweeted was horrible?

"never progressed past" could be substituted with "held true to their values and didn't change their politics out of self interest, sometimes even just for one policy". How does that 'chime'?

Intellectually speaking, throwing Dawn Butler at Kemi Badenoch in a head to head debate would be like throwing a Chihuahua into the pit with a hungry wolf.

I read an interesting statement. Most adults on the right can understand the left because they started out there. Most adults on the left can't understand the right because they've never progressed past the politics of their youth.

I know this is not the point but I find Kemi's portrayal of her background seems misleading and designed to craft a particular narrative. In countries like Nigeria and other parts of Asia, having a driver or domestic staff is common among the middle class due to lower labor costs. It’s not an indicator of wealth or high status as it would be in the UK. Claiming such experiences to present an image of privilege and affluence feels disingenuous if she didn’t grow up with similar circumstances in the UK.
It appears that this narrative is aimed at appealing to a specific voter base by projecting an image of success and connection to elite lifestyles. However, this approach falls flat for two main reasons. First, her views are often seen as extreme or divisive, alienating potential supporters. Second, the reality of British society means that a black woman running for leadership might still face significant resistance, regardless of her attempts to align with wealth or status. Overall, her strategy seems unlikely to win over those she’s trying to attract.

Well, didn’t take long for labour ministers to show their real beliefs did it. According to Dawn Butler, Kemi Badenoch is “a white supremacist in blackface” (with apologies to all for re-typing her massively offensive words). According to the lovely KS this is all just fine, nothing to see here, move along.

One rule for labour, one rule for everybody else. Again. Last time it was failure to declare gifts. This time it is blatant racism. How hideous this government is and what rank hypocrites.

Dawn Butler must have the whip withdrawn otherwise I don’t want to hear one more word from this racist government.

And this is the kind of intra & inter community division that Kemi said was so destructive to Nigerian society when she lived there.

This country needs to work, it will never be perfect but it feels like we're fighting over deckchairs on the Titanic.

Dawn Butler does not seem as capable at politics as Kemi, it would be interesting to see them chatting but watching a debate between them would titillate the same people who like watching women mud wrestle. We're stronger together and need to find compromise to move forward.
