The OP isn't going to let facts get in the way of a good old rant about non means tested benefits though.

I'm amazed again at how these posters know so much about other people and their finances and what they get in benefits.

As others have said to get that sort of money in Universal Credit those three children are going to very profoundly disabled. Would you @CyclingAddict wish that on somebody?

Take disability out of the equation and there are five people to keep warm, clothed and fed on £1500/month. £1200 if the youngest were born after April 2017.

AIUI Motability is a lease scheme. The claimant surrenders their DLA or PIP for mobility and the same money goes to Motability who provide a lease car. The cash alone will get something like a Dacia Jogger or a Kia Stonic. Bigger and more costly vehicles are available but require an upfront payment which may be substantial.

They didn't have to take an Audi or Merc but if they did the cost to the taxpayer is no more than the Jogger.

Another daft post criticising people, even in this case children, with disabilities for daring to exist and needing additional support.

I doubt very much that this 'family you know' shares their finances with you in such details.

I’ve got a brand new Motability car. I picked it up last Friday. DH paid over £20k in tax last year, but that doesn’t stop me being disabled. It doesn’t stop me living a life in pain, it doesn’t stop me being unable to walk.

Absolutely no one is “offered an Audi, BMW or Mercedes…” when they go for a Motability car unless they’re prepared to pay a hefty advance payment, probably around £6k. If you go for a grant you’re told there’s plenty of cars with a £0 AP or are offered a grant for about £1000 for an electric vehicle. It’s causing a lot of stress to a lot of disabled people who can’t have chargers fitted to their homes because they don’t have a drive or a their landlord won’t allow it,

It absolutely pisses me off that people post complete and utter bollocks about what disabled people are entitled to in this country. We have a shitty enough time as it is. Get a grip of yourself and get on with your own life fgs.

If you want disabilities and are wishing disabilities on your children in order to gain money that has to be spent on managing the extra costs of living with disabilities, please don't act on this wrt your children — they have a right to a healthy life whatever your deranged resentments.
