Starmer son finds a quiet place to study for GCSEs

Can't berate Starmer for this but think some parents will be aghast.

He has mentioned being very aware of the difficulties of the election campaign and now him being PM for his children. If he was so concerned about them, maybe now wasn't the right time to go for this role. Instead he went for it, putting his own ambitions before his concern for his children, so he'll just have to deal with the public's disgust about him doing stuff like this.

I'm not sure why anyone would be shocked at a politician doing any of the stuff reported. As much as he tried to present himself as mr average person by going on about his parents normal jobs etc, he's far from it. He is not interested in helping anyone, he is as self serving as anyone else.

So he needed a separate accomodation, for several months?
Was he given access to a shed that was rented by the hour?
Did they rent him a space in a WeWork?
Put him up in an Air B&B?

It does sound bizarre. But no matter, I'm still delighted to see the back of the Tories.

I doubt it was for space per se.

It would have been for space away from doorstepping press and the like (and probably a fair few loons), along with less disturbance from people coming in and out and calling, etc, as part of the campaign - the one that was only in the middle of GCSEs because the other guy, whose kids were generally hundreds of miles away - and still subject to press and loon diversions, by the way - called it.

Lord Alli, who happens to be a really rich man who wants a Labour government and is a personal friend of the Starmer’s let them stay in one of his properties that was quiet and secure so a 16 year old didn’t have to run gamut of press and protestors every day during he GCSE’s

the notional value of that donation had to be declared because starmer is an MP

The £20k is a notional figure. He borrowed someone else’s house or flat or whatever ever it was.

What a corrupt, embarrassing government we have, no matter which party is in.

Why would there be tax implications?

Donations are only corrupt if they're given in real expectations of gain.

If Lord Alli wants nothing more than for Labour to form the government and provides cash, goods or services to help achieve that end that's how our system works.

If there's an understanding, or even perhaps an expectation, of his getting contracts or favours then it's corrupt.

I honestly couldn't give a shit about this. My son went and stayed at my parents house to get some peace and quiet. If you'd rented a room there it would have cost a about 150 quid a night on airbnb. Surely this is long the same lines?
Didnt Boris Johnson live in chequers for about six months after he was sacked? At the cost of the tax payer, thats more annoying.

Yeah I revised at my nan's because she'd sleep all afternoon and I'd get peace, or at my parent's office on a weekend.
