That was a long time ago, the tories were scum and I'm a dithery voter but this doesn't bother me that much.

The freebies and the lack of political nous of the Labour Party- and that includes AR and her war on NIMBYS - worry me far more.

I voted Labour at the last election having believed their promises during their campaign.

This is why I am so furious at their behaviour. I feel totally betrayed and lied to by Starmer and I am truly disgusted and angered by his greed and hypocrisy and the fact that I was taken in by it.

Yes conservative voters are crowing because the political nativity and dishonesty shown by KS is off the scale. But as a labour voter at the last election I am even more furious. I feel we’ve been taken for granted and blatantly lied to.

Precisely, @TizerorFizz. And the more that people turn off from it, the easier it is for low quality politicians to make their way up through the ranks. You then end up in this pitiful situation.

Looking right, look at the low quality Tory leadership candidates. Regardless of anyone's politics, it's pretty obvious that the people who make up the HoC these days are a long way from the (overall, there's always been a % of duff ones) quality of MPs a couple of decades (and beyond) ago.

@NoWordForFluffy We do have an issue with people switching off from politics. Taking freebies like this epitomizes the issue. No one is trustworthy. It might be within the rules but most people don’t get this stuff and would nit be allowed to. It’s beyond reasonable. Labour was the new broom. Except they are not. It’s pretty poor. And a turn off yet again.

Certain Labour fans have studiously avoided addressing the hypocrisy element of the issue, preferring to describe the discussion as 'right wing frothing'. Which speaks volumes.

It really does show a lack of critical thinking to portray such unwavering loyalty at all times. It's ok to not agree with your chosen political party, you know, and see the hypocrisy for what it is. Being a full time cheerleader is just rather pathetic, IMO.

No wonder turnout at the GE was so low. Look at the choice the electorate had.

@justasking111 It is. You just don’t understand what a democracy is. It is not following what some constituents might or might not want. It’s a system of electing governments. If you want clear views on a policy, have a referendum.

MPs have discretion and it’s normal to vote with your party. As it is nearly everywhere else in the world with democratic voting systems. Might I suggest you would like the Swiss system of referenda? No government can possibly please all of the people all of the time. Just look at Israel.

Labour only got 33.7% of the votes. So a landslide of MPs with differing views but not a landslide of votes. They won’t do what Labour voters want and MPs won’t agree with the leadership. What’s new?

i don’t believe you are that dim you don’t see the issue. Given KS, rightly, highlighted how shit and Corrupt the Tories were and insisted he wouldn’t be the same. The fact that he is the exactly the same and was doing the same whole campaigning on how his Labour Party wasn’t like them, is a main part of the issue.

He is just like them. That’s the problem.
