The worst thing is when you work in politics or a field that is politics adjacent. Then you get impregnated, squirt out a kid, and have to give it up to crochet potholders. They really should stop hiring us ladies for those jobs, or at least establish non-fertility first.

Maybe the act of giving birth releases all the politics and sports hormones?
