Trump shooting - odd? Staged?

I haven't seen the footage.
But apparently he threw his fist up and said fight fight fight.

Does it look like a normal reaction? Wouldn't you try and move away fast?

Do people think it's staged? Or is the world so strange now I'm just reading too much into it.

You haven't seen the footage? How on earth can you possibly comment

DancingPhantomsOnTheTerrace · 20/07/2024 18:05

No, I don't think it was staged. I think it was typical stupid Trump behaviour. The secret service clearly wanted to keep him shielded and get him away as soon as possible (as you'd expect), and he insisted on being seen. Incredibly stupid since there was really no way of knowing at that point that there was just one shooter, and he could have put other people in more danger by not doing as he was told.

NChange10 · 20/07/2024 17:56

Just watched it. Seems amazing that secret services missed a guy on the roof. They saw him 20 mins before hand.

this is entirely normal and spontaneous behaviour for donald trump!

exactly, it’s very presidential!

Trump isn’t stupid enough to time turning his head with a bullet.

ElleneAsanto · 20/07/2024 17:27

He didn’t want people to think he’d been fatally injured (like JFK) and, given his mindset, he assumed it was extreme left wingers responsible. So just responding to that. Yes, you are reading too much into it.

I find it weird that his supporters are believing God saved him. If he’d been killed, I doubt they’d believe it was “God’s will”. It’s more a personality cult than politics.

Justcallmebebes · 20/07/2024 17:26

Sorry, am I understanding right that you think Trump may have been responsible for staging his own assassination attempt, resulting in 2 deaths and 3 people being seriously injured?

Echobelly · 20/07/2024 17:26

I don't think it was staged. I hear some of the reactions coming from 'my' side and I think 'You'd be sneering if this had been an attack on Biden and Trump types were saying that it's a set-up'. As with all conspiracies, there's too much treating things as though 'If X happens, this GUARANTEES Y will happen in response' and things just don't work that way. I agree Trump was just being himself when he started showboating - people are going 'But why didn't his entourage stop him sticking his head up'? and things like that. Well, they probably wouldn't expect a target to be dumb enough to do that so it's not something you're prepared for as a close protection officer.

I'm not sure we'll ever know the attempted assassin's motives, but I think it's not unlikely he's just one of those types who wanted fame at any cost.

this is entirely normal and spontaneous behaviour for donald trump!

TorroFerney · 20/07/2024 17:21

how have you managed to not see the footage? That’s on a par with the episode of the likely lads where they don’t want to know the football score!

GuinnessBird · 20/07/2024 17:21

It's Trump being a showman.

Also I really doubt that Trump would trust anyone to just graze his ear, least of all a failed gun club member.

CocoDolphin · 20/07/2024 17:21

It crossed my mind too op! Which just shows how absurd this world has become. I really can’t believe that this was a publicity stunt though because innocent people actually died. Even Trump wouldn’t stoop that low. I think.

FuzzyStripes · 20/07/2024 17:20

I think you need to see the footage and then you will realise that he’d already been surrounded by SS and the shooter killed by this point.

cupcaske123 · 20/07/2024 17:18

You're reading too much into it. It's not a normal reaction.
