Just that.

Imagine Mr. Trump is not a happy bunny today.

They keep alluding to Newsom who they could parachute in. He runs California.

Gibe a clue on who you think the British PM is as I can't think who that would be?

It's a sad fact that people still feel they have to hide their sexuality but it doesn't surprise me as the world is not a liberal place.

Arnie made it as a politician so I think the American's wouldn't be opposed to it, though obviously you couldn't shoehorn in a non-politician at this late stage. The democrats do need to stand someone other than Biden against Trump though. I always assumed that would have been the plan they would have had in place following the last election - let Biden's experience win it for the and then introduce a successor. The 2 candidates both seem massively unfit for different reasons.

Google will help you very quickly with the PM, but Britain is very different to the US. Can you imagine any British PM, regularly spouting on about God? Even the religious ones don't talk about it, but in America they all have to pretend they have faith.

I could see Clooney being president (not this time), but not if he has those skeletons in his closet.

It's not the 1950s

And you know it's got fuck all to do with anyone else what he does or doesn't do in private with consenting adults.

Maybe it's no one's business, but there's no way on earth the Americans will vote for a gay President (even if he were qualified) and it would come out over the course of an election campaign.

Without that, I tho there's a fair chance Clooney could one day be president.

The US election baffles me. From all those millions of people, how have they managed to come up with two such unsuitable candidates?

TinySmol · 11/07/2024 10:44

Yes at least one British PM, one Australian PM etc.

Couldn't care less if Clooney is closeted or not, but he's not a suitable replacement candidate.

I am astonished that the Dems have allowed this to happen. I get the differences in the party systems that make removal of a serving President or a candidate more difficult. But it’s been so obvious for so long that Biden’s mentally incapable that it’s a real dereliction of duty that he hasn’t been moved against by his own party. You only had to look at him two years ago to know that he must have trouble remembering his wife’s name.

Thanks Dems, you’ve secured the dangerous orange loony a further term. 👎

I remember a fair few posts where people would say his capacity is declining and up until recently there would be a lot of backlash claiming it wasn’t the case

I think it was hidden under it’s an attack etc rather than face the issue which made it all worse

3luckystars · 11/07/2024 10:27

Who cares though if they are or not.

I think poor Biden must be very unwell and it became clear recently.

Yes but why do closeted men get to tell everyone else what to do, how to vote and what to think?
They can't even be honest about their own sexuality yet they're very involved in everything and pontificating on what needs to be done.
Why should we listen to closeted men?

Also Clooney promoting Nescafe?
Nestle have a shocking track record in the developing world.

Jog on.

Early marriage to older woman to put press off the scent - check.
Marriage to older woman fails and divorce follows - check.
Numerous much younger, random non-celeb girlfriends on two - three year contracts, one after the other - check.
Non-dlsclosures in place for all of those girlfriends - check.
Described by press as 'confirmed bachelor' - check.
Ex-girlfriends talk about how how he was a father figure not a lover - check.
Hasty marriage in middle age to relatively unknown much younger woman - check.
Twins born by IVF - check.

It's textbook.

He's screaming.

There's rumours they'll parachute Michelle Obama in last minute. Her husband still meets with world leaders on the down low regularly.

MO is a remarkable, impressive lady but she has no relevant experience for the job.

If the Dems look at all of their senators, congressmen and women, governors etc, not to mention their own VP, and the best they can come up with is the wife of the guy who did the job before then there is no hope for them at all.

Mmhmmn · 11/07/2024 10:33

Nah, think he just wants Joe to move over to avoid ending up with an untrammelled fascist in power.

I thought it was only 3 weeks since Clooney did the fundraiser for Biden. So has he changed his mind in the last 3 weeks ?
I always thought when he married it was with an eye on the Presidency.

Looks like the fundraiser was the turning point.

The actor writes that the president's decline is not an illusion; it’s real. He points to a Los Angeles fundraiser he threw for the president last month. “The Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the Joe... of 2010,” he writes. “He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate.”

op I thought that about Clooney. At this point it's pretty obvious they need to get someone - maybe a completely new person, who is known for something else is just what's needed.

Biden's bruising day sinks hopes Democrats will move on

A growing chorus from the US president's party means he is unlikely to steady his campaign this week and perhaps ever.

Oh my word!

None of this is any proof of Clooney’s sexuality. And even if he was the reincarnation of Liberace, so what?

I don’t think he’d win whatever his sexuality might be. The hopers on here haven’t thought through the likelihood of Americans voting for an actor with not a jot of experience of political office joining a chaotic Dem campaign as an 11th hour desperation candidate.

But his preference for men or women or both has sweet Felicity Arkwright to do with it.

No idea what his plans are but his comment was pretty damning for Biden

It sums up the issue of capacity decline

The Apprentice is how he got there though

I assume that was for me?

By celebrity endorsement I mean when a celebrity publicly comes out and says 'please vote for x. I think he/she is great and they have my vote'.

That's what don't like, from either side of the political spectrum.

This calls for the ER episode called ‘Hell or High Water’

Oh God, his character in ER was an absolute immature twat who loved to play the hero.
