Anyone else watching US dems implode?

Talk about party cannibalism! Notice how the R's stick together as a united front supporting a felon, but the Dems just can't support their party lead who is president and are tearing their party apart falling for the age agenda created by the R's and running with it? It's a lesson in how to lose an election. 🤦‍♀️ 🍿

Anyone NOW watching the Republicans implode??

What’s happening? What are they doing

Emmanuelll · 25/07/2024 01:20

Kamala Harris is polling well against Trump. Apparently, the momentum seems to be going positively for her, which has been a specifically 48 hour turnaround. Trump is having a meltdown about it because he spent the republican convention making arguments against a man who now will not run and he's the one who is relatively old instead.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 25/07/2024 00:13

I haven't seen much about the R's imploding @ramblingfool please elaborate!

Biden is going to address the nation tonight. I think he may well stand down from the Presidency.

Doubtful.

I think that’s unlikely. I’m not sure that it’s to Harris’ advantage for him to stand down now and I think Biden will do what he can to make sure she beats Trump.

And now Biden has dropped out. Good luck Dems. 🤦‍♀️

I rewatched the debate when cnn repeated it and didn't feel Biden was as bad on my second watch, but he missed so many opportunities to hammer Trump on lies and promote his accomplishments. 🤦‍♀️
If anyone recalls Trump's campaign it was: Crooked Hillary, MAGA and Drain the Swamp ad nauseum. And. He. Won.
Voters need simple messages repeated over and over.
The dems throw out too many competing messages that people lose interest in. ffs, marketing 101, people.
And offence, please. Get off the defence train now.I lose it every time I see the press secretary speak.

Oh yes, that politician who came out of today’s meeting and just kept replying to the journalists “I’m ridin’ with Biden”. 9 times he said it like it’s been pounded into him but he doesn’t believe it.

I’m an American who votes democrat and I’m so angry at the democrats who are close to the president and have clearly been hiding Biden’s condition, thinking they could pull it off.

Two years ago, something could have been done. It’s too late now. Nobody but Kamala could use Biden’s campaign money and it’s too late for anyone to raise enough otherwise. What a mess.

I didn’t know about the campaign money

What a mess indeed

Takoneko · 11/07/2024 19:25

Biden continuing is insane after that first debate. The democrats urgently need to deal with this. He isn’t formally their nominee for President yet and someone needs to talk some sense into him before the national convention or the convention will be an unedifying debacle.

There is no world in which he can beat Trump now and Trump is a threat to America’s very democracy. The thought of more head to head debates with Trump is just horrifying. It will be a car crash. He has a moral duty to stand down IMO. Trump might still win but Biden needs to let someone else take a swing.

It’s like RBG all over again. Public figures need to know when it’s time to go.

If Biden announces he isn’t standing there will be a big push to see him stand down before the election. That would make Kamala president. I have a feeling this is something the Democrats want to avoid at all costs. Even if it means poor Joe has to hang on to the end.

I think they're hoping against odds he wins again at which point he can then step down and Kamala has a full term.

I have my doubts whether Biden can win against Trump in his current state but I'm certain Harris can't and definitely not at this late stage.

I don't see any outcome here that's good for America. Trump and Biden are bad in their own ways and the way he looks now I'm not convinced Biden will live through a 2nd term never mind have capacity. Theoretically the same could apply to Trump given his age but he doesn't appear to be in as bad shape.

Harris won't win the election herself and if she took over early in Biden's 2nd term half the country would probably consider her an illegitimate president. Even though that's what VPs are for I think many American's would feel it was a con.

The only good outcome would be if the Dems could come up with someone who could win against Trump with only a few months to go but from what I've read legally it's not that simple to drop Biden at this stage unless he stepped down.

They've left it too late basically. They should have been honest about the situation sooner and someone else should have run on the Dem ticket from the start.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 07/07/2024 00:19

@Ahlovetoloveyoubaby and yet the Dems can't emphasize that as a party, as a whole. 🤦‍♀️
They're stuck on defence and can't dig out.

When I listen to him talking amongst the stumbling and mumbling, I am still convinced that he is a safer bet than Donald Trump, who is as rotten as Biden is decent.

@StripedPiggy don't think we're at odds... I'm just watching with amazement at the implosion. The eating their own - this late in the game - so publicly is astounding.

OP posts:
StripedPiggy · 06/07/2024 23:48

Strong disagree, OP.

Biden is a good guy who has done an excellent job as POTUS, but it’s glaringly obvious to anyone that he is too old to do the job now, never mind in 4.5 years’ time if he’s re-elected. Which, after his shocking performance in the debate, he certainly won’t be.

The Democrats are in a very difficult position, for which they have only themselves to blame. If Biden remains their candidate, he will be obliterated by Trump. If they replace him, the new candidate will have less name recognition, less experience in the spotlight and they will likely be crushed by Trump.

Trump is awful but I was genuinely astonished at Bidens lack of capacity at the “debate”. He is clearly not capable of being president. It’s irresponsible that no one in the Democratic Party said that before now. They must have known

They did! Voices are now getting louder and more are joining the chorus.

@EconomyClassRockstar I don't see high-level R's publicly tearing down Trump calling for him to step down as party leader to every news outlet that will give airtime.
