Success depends on a lot of things. Let's not pretend that a child from a deprived background, on benefits and free school meals has the same opportunities as someone at Eton.

That's part of my point - many private schools will help, regardless of whether you've got the diagnosis. Many private schools will also expel them sadly.

You must know that is fanciful. I've fought my guts out for my sen child. 1 or 2 extra teachers per school (which is what 6500 more teachers translates to) will not fix this. It's not earmarked for sen anyway. I thought it was for more maths teachers.

Why ? Thousands of Sen parents have seen budgets cut to the bone, what the Tories have done to Sen provision in the state sector is criminal. VAT payments could mean those budgets increase and all Sen children have decent provision

Starmer went to private sixth form. His wife went to private school as well.

it’s not ok to discriminate based on where people went to school op - you’re essentially saying everyone who went to private school is a cunt - just more politely. You need to stop discriminating.

He went to grammar school. Passed the exam. Whilst he was there the school changed to private but they allowed those already there to continue for a bursary.

I think he should have gone to a different sixth form actually - given his views on private schools. Loads of people change schools for sixth form.

I don't call "poor" people any of those things. The poster was saying that being posh is not a protected characteristic so it was OK to name call. I was just putting the other side of that across - name calling poor people to illustrate that it wasn't OK to name call anyone.

I love these discussions as it really shows it’s different strokes for different folks. I went to state school but don’t feel I relate any more to the new cabinet then the previous. In fact, I want to gouge my eye out when I see or hear Angela Raynor, and it’s the constant ‘I grew up in a council house’ rhetoric that winds me up so much.
