I have not voted
Reform and live in a safe tory seat But I voted
Lib dem tactical vote

I said ages Ago on here the reform would do really well and was shouted down.

Same as brexit, no one will admit voting for reform but
They still do it in droves it seems.

I'm Willing to bet they
Might win an election in four years at this rate!!

Watching ITV, it's obvious that the commentators are blindsided by the success of Reform, don't understand it and are saying, oh it's only 6 seats so far. Good God, just spend 10 minutes on TwiX the last few weeks, Reform were constantly trending! People are pissed off and feel like they're not being heard!

cantgetmybreath · 05/07/2024 00:48

Image shared on Facebook by a "friend" who is a reform voter and also 10.5 thousand other racist fools ! and I see a lot of brown faces so don't tell me it isn't racism @lovelysunshine22
I would far rather live in a place where there is immigration than a place where I fear for my life. If there is no racism why no homes for Syria and only homes for Ukrainian?

Reform are getting a shitload of voters

What are you ON? There's been two results and Swindon is not one of them

Five have been declared. Swindon South half an hour ago.

Look on the Guardian.

There have been 5 results, and Swindon South is one of them.

What are you talking about 'disenfranchisement' ? They’re not disenfranchised, they’re the most enfranchised people in the country, they have gotten every single thing they voted for and at enormous cost to the rest of us. They might not like the 'prize' they have won but that's their own fucking stupid fault. These are the 'we don't need experts' lot, they were told and told and told but voted to make the country worse with Brexit and continue to do so.

Listen I am a middle class, middle aged white privileged, London liberal (well now live in the naice bit of Kent) buuuut we have to change our thinking on this. Brexiters are not thick ( they maybe misinformed) neither are they racist ( they may be mistaken that immigration is the problem). Please, please don't fuel this anger and division. It leaves an open goal for that charlatan Farage.

True, it’s still frightening though. I’ll be wanting a map of the areas where Reform won a seat or has high votes to avoid . Hoping it’s not my area.

You and me both!

LiterallyOnFire · 05/07/2024 00:46

In fairness, I don't know anyone who voted Reform who isn't also a massive racist.

Well massive racists aren't going to care who knows it, are they? Or the other way; if they're happy to tell you they voted Reform maybe they don't mind being associated with all that involves.

Protest voters will probably be more careful who they tell.

There has to be some hope in this picture somewhere. It can't be that a huge slice of the population became bigots in 2010.

There are white ghettos.

I guess you've never been to places like Buttershaw in Bradford. There are many others.

Reading comprehension is important

HolyGround13 · 05/07/2024 00:36

Ghetto has very racist connotations as a word. It means you object to a poor black area

Reform just came in third in Swindon South with 6000 and something.

It's protest.

ExitPursuedByABare · 05/07/2024 00:44

The Uk is one of the most tolerant countries in the world.

Grantshappsotherusrnames · 05/07/2024 00:43

It is worth noting that in the results declared so far the Reform Ltd vote is slightly lower than the exit poll projection.

Kendodd · 05/07/2024 00:42

BananaLambo · 05/07/2024 00:40

The Reform vote is partly a protest vote against the tories by people who didn’t want to vote Labour. Yes, some of them are thick racists, but a lot of people on the right are completely fucked off and Reform is the natural home for their vote.

In fairness, I don't know anyone who voted Reform who isn't also a massive racist.

Socrateswasrightaboutvoting · 05/07/2024 00:38

This country has always had a problem with racism and xenophobia. The Reform numbers are no surprise.

Reform in 2nd in Newcastle too

Wow. University city.

Appalonia · 05/07/2024 00:42

Newcastle, Reform have come second again. This is definitely looking like a pattern.

This.

I think people surprised by the number of votes Reform are getting have not been paying attention to what is going on and how people feel across the country.

There are huge numbers of people who don’t feel represented in politics or that their genuine concerns for the country are being listened to. The signs have been there for years and in Europe too. Disenfranchisement results in the rise of populism.

Calling those people racist or thick is not going to help us going forward.

point being any party can say x and then offer x plan but those plans still dont have to amount to anything, just as long as they can lead the public to believe in the party, and when the public are easily led eg bell weather marketing, then distractions eg football etc

Right… but it was always clear that Reform wouldn’t win the election, so they have more scope to say whatever, where Labour will be held to their manifesto claims when they get in. The public are indeed easily led, if the use of bots to boost Reform’s online presence is any indication, and the use of old racist rhetoric propaganda from Farage et al

This thread is showing exactly why people have voted Reform - there's a nasty implication of stupid, working class, northern idiots. Don't worry, the sensible southerners will show them how they should have voted.

That’s not fair. I’m sure there will be southern idiots voting reform too.
Its frightening.

Absolutely agree with this...
