Who is staying up to watch the results?

I must stress that I'm not massively into politics, and I have no political agenda to bash.

I do try at every GE to stay up to see how it plays out, especially when it's a big predicted change.

The plan is to get ready for bed by 10. Watch the exit poll stuff, stay up until we reach a point of naming the winner, drinking gin and wine and sewing my quilt. Sewing my hand drunk onto my quilt maybe.

Oh how age has made me such saddo. 27 years ago I was rolling home drunk as a fart watching the GE.

I might only last until midnight.

Now women need to keep a bloody close eye on these balloons. Labour is no friend to women.

RosaRoja · 04/07/2024 22:43

Phew! We’ve had the good bubbly out, we’ll have another one in the morning.

LonginesPrime · 04/07/2024 22:43

I'm not staying up all night - the result will be exactly the same in the morning regardless, and I'd much rather hear about it after a good night's sleep.

I might have stayed up if the result had looked like it could go either way, but I live in a very safe labour seat anyway so I already know the ending!

Me too, but going to bed now. Really looking forward to waking up tomorrow. And then only one more day of work till the weekend. Feeling very positive 😌

Great news isn't it? 14 years of Tories, and we're free! Grin

I've been looking forward to it like a child waiting for Christmas day 😂
Very happy with the exit poll result thus far.

Will stay awake for as long as my body allows.

Looks like Isle of Wight (now 2 constituencies) have swung red for the first time in blinking years.

Simonjt · 04/07/2024 22:37

We are, neither of us have work tomorrow so it doesn’t matter if we’re tired.

I had thought we may end up with a lib dem labour coalition as I was expecting labour and the tories to be fairly neck and neck.

saythebellsofstclements · 04/07/2024 22:32

That's that then.

Nightynight 😴

I always stay up watching the results come in on election night. I have been looking forward to it all day, sad person that I am.😊

Only thing to decide was which channel to watch it on. Currrently watching BBC as I usually do, but might switch over to Channel 4 to see how they are doing things!

notbelieved · 04/07/2024 22:20

Can I just say…….OMG. Wow. Even if the exit polls are off somewhat. It’s just gobsmacking.

DyslexicPoster · 04/07/2024 22:14

So my mp has 18% chance of keeping his seat. We are true blue hard-core here

BBC probs, you?

Still deciding, which is why I asked!!

HungryLittleCrocodile · 04/07/2024 21:00

Probably stay up til midnight-ish. Exit polls should be up and about then. Smile

I can't stay up all night though.

Definitely. Got my snacks sorted (sausage rolls, cheese, ham, homemade chocolate chip rolls) and drinks (Red Bull, prosecco, orange juice).

And I've printed off my election bingo cards:

Oh I wish I had all these things! Might have to go to Spar. I’ve eaten all my crisps and nothing’s happened yet.

Which channel is everyone going to watch on?

MermaidEyes · 04/07/2024 20:32

I'm not really a night owl, so will watch until 11ish then go to bed. I know twitter will have a mash up of all the best losers in the morning!

YellowDaffodilRedTulip · 04/07/2024 20:31

I’m doing the vote count so I will be up! Estimating a 4-5am finish for our district, unless it’s close and they demand a recount.

RishiSunak · 04/07/2024 18:42

Not me.
I've also got cotton wool stuffed in my ears.

Shouldn't you be busy packing?

OMG how have you got that username 😂

TripBalzac · 04/07/2024 20:15

You could break a needle and never find all the bits! Good luck 😉

DyslexicPoster · 04/07/2024 19:57

TripBalzac · 04/07/2024 17:30

Are you hand quilting?

No using my sewing machine. What could possibly go wrong after a few gins?! It's a massive quilt so I might get mad with it and go to bed sooner.

I would love to see my constituency vote come in as I have very famous mp. My son was going stand against him ( just for the experience he LOVES politics) but is abroad right now.

I usually love staying up to watch but this time I think I'll go to bed.
