Anyone else planning to set an early alarm to watch the results come in?

We didn’t bother in 2019, but there should be more than a few Portillo moments worth getting up at 3:30 for this year. Several friends are doing the same, and I appear to be in a WhatsApp group called 3:30 am Massacre of the Innocents, which I presume is ironic.

Will we be watching Rory and Alistair on Channel 4? Or BBC coverage?

Anyone else planning an early wake up, and to get through Friday fuelled by coffee and hope for a brighter future?

I'm unconvinced by the 'bed straight after exit poll' brigade. The exit poll is the starting gun on the actual coverage, and if it's in any way different to previous polling, they'll be swingometering the fuck out of it. I suspect this will be the moment people shuffling towards the bedroom find themselves oddly drawn back to the sofa. Not to mention witnessing Nicola Sturgeon as a pundit in real time. As Pavarotti said... None shall sleep!

Me too, can't wait I have my outfit, snacks and drinks planned already! We will also be up all night watching the Tories getting anhilated and enjoying every delicious minute of it!

I've got a nightmare day at work on Friday with loads of Zoom meetings so can't afford to stay up late or listen to coverage on the radio while I work. I'm gutted.

I used to stay up and I really want to but don't think I have enough energy anymore think I am past it. Taking the iPad to bed though

I'll probably fall asleep with the TV on. I have to be up at 5.30am for work so will probably get up a bit sooner to see the final results coming in.

Party with my mum and off on Friday. We have gin, red wine and prosecco. Curry at 8pm. Prosecco to be popped at 10pm 😁

I was delivering Liberal SDP Alliance leaflets in the 80s as well! (With my mum - I was born in 1975 so would have been quite young).
I am actually at a gig tomorrow night, booked before the election was announced, so will impose the exit poll but thinking of just staying up after the gig

I've never stayed up for an election night, and I have Friday off, so I plan to do it tomorrow.

GHSP Me too! I remember stuffing envelopes the SDP/liberal alliance in the 80s.

I’m half French, so it’s been quite a political rollercoaster over these couple of weeks. My family is barely talking about the UK election, given what’s going on over the Channel.

I have got party supplies and will set up the living room tomorrow night with nibbles and drinks, and duvets/sleeping bags available. Well crack open the drinks when the exit polls open at 10pm. I have two teenagers with school the next day but I have said they are allowed to stay up for as much of the night as they want. I expect we’ll watch for an hour or so and then I’ll turn the volume down low so the kids can get a bit of sleep, but I’ll wake them up when the results start coming in thick and fast. I expect I’ll get a bit of sleep between 11pm and 2am as that’s the boring bit, but then be glued to the telly for another couple of hours, and maybe get another hours’ sleep before getting up for school at 6am.

i have politics in my DNA - was envelope stuffing for the SDP before I started school and I love an election!

I'm WFH on Friday so will have it on all day. I might get up earlier so I can have a bit of a watch in peace before I get the kids up.

I'm planning to watch the exit poll and then go to bed for a few hours and get up at 2ish as we get the results in individual seats. I'll probably then try and get a few more hours sleep and doze a bit.
