People thought the same about Brexit - i.e. didn't expect quite so many to actually go out and vote for Brexit!! I do fear Reform could do a lot better than people think as lots of people are really fed up of the Tory/Labour see-saw and want something different.

Really surprised to speak to my son (22 year old graduate) a few days ago, to find he was planning to vote Reform. Throughout Uni he was very "left" leaning, but seems to have done an about turn now that he's been in the World of work for nearly a year, working alongside lots of other young "trendies" in a modern, highly educated workplace.

Even us, as close to 60 year olds who are floating voters wouldn't go as far to vote Reform. We're voting Libdems as we want neither of the different cheeks of the same arse to be in power for too long. After the inevitable collapse of the Tory party in two weeks time with 4/5 years of Labour in power, I think the LibDems could be well placed to make a pretty good go to become the opposition party (or even win a majority) in the next GE in 2028/9. So we're basically voting in 2024 with a hope that LibDems can be a more major force for the following GE.

Many of the people I know who are saying they will vote reform are the type of people who talk the talk but on polling day they don’t actually bother to go and vote so it will be interesting to see what the turnout is.
A lot in my area are saying they will vote reform. I think that labour have made a mistake with the candidate here, there was a local candidate with experience, relationships in the community and a good track record of actually achieving things but they weren’t selected. Instead they selected someone not from the area and nobody had heard of them before now.

Me and DH have just been talking about last nights Question Time and we got onto the subject of Reform. He said that he has chatted with a lot of people at his workplace and a hell of a lot of them are going to be voting for them.

He talks to anyone and everyone 😀so I believe him on the 'hell of a lot of people' part.

His workplace attracts many industries and people who work there commute from all over the UK and are from all ethnicities and educational backgrounds. So pretty a pretty broad representation of the UK working population.

@Noddedoffagain In a nutshell, more of their ideas appeal to me than any of the other parties. At the end of last week it was Tory, or a spoiled vote, which I am loath to do. So Reform it is.

I haven't read anything about Andrew Tate yet so will have a look.

I would suggest you read up a bit. Reform will get a handful of seats if they are lucky. FPTP is not on their side.

Reminder that Reform is a company with Farage as the majority shareholder - it is a business, a grift.

Farage is accountable to no one, if in some hideous outcome he was pm he’d be a dictator. He is the sole decision maker.

@Noddedoffagain Heres the thing: I don't believe Labour will make any meaningful changes to any of the big issues. If they do, great! But I just don't think they will. I won't be voting Reform because I think they're wonderful or will solve all our problems. I'm voting for them because they're the least offensive option, for me personally.

Can I just say I appreciate the polite exchange I've had with a few of the posters here - this is what a grown up discussion should be like.

I would not ever vote for Reform in a million years. Our "lovely" next door neighbour has stuck stickers up in their windows for them though, but they are the type of people who most definitely would vote for them because they are stupid and racist 😔. They probably used to vote for the BNP.

I certainly won't vote for them, but I know a lot who say they will be. Dissatisfied with the 2 main parties, they are looking for something else. The main parties need to step up, stop the 'they will do this' about the other and say what they will do themselves. Answer straight questions with straight answers. None appear to be able to do this. They are in danger of giving Farage headway through pure stupidity!

There is nothing 'common sense' (whatever that even means) about Reform's policies. They are complete fantasy in terms of finance and logistics.

quite. Moving towards the position of Badenoch, Patel, Braverman and reform is why the are haemorrhaging support from floating voters and their core vote. They just haven’t realised it yet and keep trying to win the reform vote over.

If the Tories elect Badenoch as leader in due course I suspect they'll be out of power for a very long time.

I think that ignores all the other ways in which policy works either for or against women. Voting on one thing is quite reactive and not very rational. I know this is a big issue but we have climate change, the start of WWIII, economy failing, NHS struggling, social care struggling, cost of living, people malnourished and unable to hear their homes. Are you not going to consider anything other than this one (ver divisive and difficult) issue?

Oh well @LifeGivesYouOranges none of that is anything I'd want to vote for.

@Anonym00se I do not believe a move towards a USA based insurance system is what will happen - in fact I believe Reform have said that the healthcare system should remain free at the point of access (although I'll have to fact check that!). Can't say I've seen anything about Andrew Tate, so will have to read up on that.

I doubt anyone would get away with tampering with maternity leave and similar policies too much. In all honesty @Anonym00se I really don't think they stand a chance of gaining many (or any) seats - it's just they're starting the conversations no one else seems to want to have. We've had the same old rubbish from Labour and the Conservatives for so long... So I welcome a return of some common sense ideas.
