If labour wins the next GE are they likely to overturn the ban on puberty blockers and disregard the Cass Report?

I want to vote for them but I'm so scared they will jump straight on the bandwagon and risk our kids safety. And women's.

I don't think they will.

The Cass report and recent Tory guidance to NHS & schools means that Labour would have to actively declare it as a manifesto priority or reopen the whole debate to turn it over when, tbf to the Tories, they have done the hard thing and take an active position to set clear guidance on an issue noone likes to talk about.

Easier to slide into Government and talk about dealing with the big issues like the economy, nhs, trade and climate which everyone wants to see improve (albeit may have different ideas on the what and how to do it) rather than reopening a contentious but somewhat settled (for now) debate.

A lot of people on mumsnet have talked about GC views being a deabreaker for them voting-wise and I'm sure political advisers look at stuff like this and give some weight to it. Tactically, I think Tories would have been better to wait until the GE and made it a manifesto commitment as people vote for certainty. Now we know their position, there is no added incentive to vote for them (as long as Labour don't come out and say they will make controversial changes like making Gender a protected characteristic and revoking Sex).

Thanks NoWordForFluffy

About as clear as mud then😂

I think they're clutching at straws somewhat!

I've messaged you my emails with MNHQ.

There are people amongst us who bloody report anything and everything. It's amazing how deletions follow certain posters around. 🤔

That wouldn’t apply if you believed TWAW obviously.

It would. Because they're still men. And anybody believing that is deluded at best.

Nobody believes this. Not even the people saying it believe it.

This.

That’s your opinion which you are obviously entitled to have.

Genuinely curious?

Am I entitled to the belief that humans are actually alien beings left here as a science experiment and I am actually an alien on earth.

You might be able to test my DNA and see that it's human but it doesn't matter because it's what I believe and identify as that counts.

So everyone has to respect my belief and refer to me as a displaced alien from zargon instead of a human and if you don't you're actually being really mean and alien phobic?

Or would you tell me to get a grip and go see a psychiatrist?

Because it seems like whatever FACTS people are hitting you with you're coming back with entitlement and beliefs.

So how far does that go with you?

Where do you draw the line between reality and belief?

Why would feminism include men? Surely that's not 'fem'inism?

Indeed. FEMinism is for FEMales. Males can be allies, but they're shouldn't be centered.

I seem to remember that you made the same response to someone else explaining that sex is binary.

Not all opinions are equal.

Some are sensible. Some are batshit. Some are informed. Some are unsubstantiated. Some are not opinions at all, but facts.

Intersectional feminism is supposed to be inclusive of ethnic minority women, same sex attracted women, disabled women, immigrant women, homeless women, women who are victims of male violence.

These are the women who are most severely affected by the loss of single sex spaces.

It was never supposed to be inclusive of male people.

That’s your opinion which you are obviously entitled to have.

The best bit is that his beliefs actually align with most GC women but he's still getting mad for some reason? 🤔 😂

Based on his performance on other threads, it seems to me that @AdamRyan identifies as a contrarian. 😂
Amusing but best ignored except for entertainment value.

  1. I'm a woman
  2. I know which is what makes it double hilarious when some posters (not you) claim I'm a TRA/Labour bot etc.

You are a TRA adam, you are not worried about the definition of woman. You said so on here.

This is because you believe that some males should be in some women's single sex spaces, even when you know that this is against the wishes of many women and displaces vulnerable women who cannot be in spaces with those males.

Self ID will create a culture where ANY man can enter woman only spaces for ANY reason

He wont even have to self ID himself a GRC as we aren't allowed to ask about it anyway.

He literally just has to say the words "I'm a woman" or "I identify as a woman" and this MUST be accepted.

I mean, we're pretty much there already tbf. But legal self ID will just make it even harder to push back.

So yes, it's dangerous.

There's a new Hate Crime law in Scotland which attempts to address this. I would never want anyone in any space 'to get battered'. But I want my Dd to be in safe single sex spaces as she is vulnerable (ASD, semi verbal).

Anyway, I have no desire to hang around and be insulted on yet-another-trans thread. Although kudos to OP for a slightly more unusual thread title than normal.

toodles

5GreenLeaves · 21/04/2024 17:55

I've thought for a while there is nothing to be gained from debating definition of woman.

Gosh how very lucky of you to just be able to stop caring ad walk away from the debate and not have to worry about it anymore.

I wish women could do that but unfortunately we can't because... You know, the very real risk of assault and such.

But thrilled that you don't feel unsafe around other men. Lovely for you.

With regards to what I think Labour will do, I just don't have a clue. I'd like to believe Wes Streeting's reverse ferret but Labour's proposed ban on all forms of conversion therapy doesn't sit neatly with Cass if it bans talking therapy for gender questioning vulnerable children.

Would be really nice if there could be some clarity on this.

And that Labour will protect women's single sex spaces and confirm that, given the demonstrable harms to women, that it will take steps to repeal the laws it enacted that enables Starmer to be legally correct when he states that some women have penises.

Laws can be overturned. Labour just don't want to do it.

lifeturnsonadime · 21/04/2024 17:52

Of course you don't Adam.

That's because you think some men are women and should be in women's single sex spaces in some circumstances. You are an activist for these men.

Sadly for you this is a democracy not a marriage and everyone's opinions are equally valid. Even if they disagree with you.
You can cast your vote come the election same as everyone else.

You're contrary for the sake of being contrary goady aren't you?

It's clear you don't give a shit about women who CANNOT use mixed sex facilities.

What you fail to realise is that it won't stop at toilets (which magnanimous you is happy with). It'll be everything, including changing rooms. Then what will you do? Boo hoo will be too late then, won't it? 🙄
