Yes there's a by-election, and there isn't a Tory candidate announced yet.

Peter Bone is apparently discussing with Reform whether to stand as their candidate.

If Reform are even in discussions it would be a sign they have no vaguely decent candidates available at all. Why would any party want to stand the very candidate the electorate in that constituency have just voted to remove??

I think if it was felt that Cameron could improve results for the Tories, the right-wing press would be mild about it, I am sure the Guardian and Mirror would run stories but the r-w press would downplay it.

I think it would be portrayed as 'nothing to see here'.

Yes, he is boring but that is the least of my worries. Also, it is not just KS is the loonies that still remain in the Labour party. People are desperate but just wait and see how bad it would get if they win.

Are you a Tory voter though? They'd be appealing (or trying to!) to the staunch Northants Tories (bearing in mind its a very, very Blue county), not you, if you don't vote Tory generally.

There aren't many left wing newspapers, so I would think Tory HQ press office would be sending positive spin out for publication in the supportive parts of the media. I can see how they'd try to make it a positive thing.

Sunak isn’t exactly riveting.
Truss was dull apart from her unintentional stupidity.
Major was thought to be dull and it wasn’t till later we found out he was shagging Edwina Currie.

Yes, the Tories could change their internal rules, but they'd get absolutely crucified for it. It'd be electoral suicide (even more than their current fortunes).

The only way Cameron becomes PM before the General Election is if they parachute him in for a by-election somewhere, which he'd then have to win.

Except Kemi Badenoch has stood up in the House of Commons and said that she will re visited trans issues on various issues as they currently don't work in woman's and children's interests. Argued against by the womens equality minister Annalise Dodd and supported by others in the Labour party.
I don't think its the Torys fault all the barriers have fallen as women have been talked into it by the "Be Kind" brigade in this. Now the problems are clearly identified with men taking womens medals in sport or on all womens shortlists or turning up in single sex spaces there is a bit more awareness in general.

That's one Tory MP and one Labour MP. Look at how so many Tory MPs have treated women. Not exactly a good track record eh? And look at their policies as a whole. It's not just about their views on trans but the underlying message on how they view women in general.

Sometimes the trans issue is a red herring.

Very good post. What good is it, repeating the line that labour don't know what a woman is when the Tories are the ones who think so lowly of a woman in the first place, and have let all the barriers fall as far as they have on women's spaces?
