I was reading an article in the Spectator this morning. Interesting to hear what people think.

On the basis that we've had Johnson and Truss recently I don't think not being intelligent enough is going to be an issue for Starmer.

And he can beat Sunak into a cocked hat in any debate.

I hate the Tories and won't vote for them. All I want is a centre-left part to vote for, which doesn't pretend to believe people can change sex. I'm sure Starmer is intelligent, and I don't particularly care that he's boring. But I think he's a disingenuous coward. To keep the Tories out in my constituency I need to vote Lib Dem (who have won the last umpteen times here), but they are even worse on gender, I think. The Tories were close on their heels last time, with Labour trailing miles behind.

I believe in respecting other countries rules of law and not interfering in their laws.

That is good to here.
So you are perfectly happy I presume for someone who is accused of a crime to be represented in court by a lawyer and if that court decides that the accused is not guilty you will respect that decision?

Paul2023 · 10/01/2024 20:06

jgw1 · 10/01/2024 20:05

But @Paul2023 do you believe in the rule of law?

Last time I checked , Johnson wasn’t the PM. Sunak is. But atleast when Piers Morgan asked him what a woman is he answered it.

See above post , it doesn’t really affect me who wins , Starmer or Sunak because I don’t think either will transform my life significantly.

What do you love about him?

What’s not to love about him. He’s great 😊

Is defining a woman as whatever Boris Johnson says it is good enough for you?

BTW, I think you missed my earlier question. Do you believe in the rule of law?

I don't like him. I don't think he's intelligent enough.
I love Sunak.

What do you love about him?

IClaudine · 10/01/2024 19:59

Neither Sunak or Starmer will transform my life to any great degree

Well it is going to be tough to even begin to repair the damage done, but at least there is a chance of not making life even worse than it is now.

Paul2023 · 10/01/2024 19:56

RafaistheKingofClay · 10/01/2024 18:56

You're going to have to try harder than that.

I don’t really care , it doesn’t make much difference to me who wins , Labour or conservatives because I think you can’t squeeze a fag paper between them.

Neither Sunak or Starmer will transform my life to any great degree.

I love Sunak.

How intelligent do you want?

Ooh. That makes him look exciting.

Brave enough to meet with dangerous criminals, whilst his opponent is too scared to attend international summits.

jgw1 · 10/01/2024 19:34

IClaudine · 10/01/2024 19:26

Oh, god. Here we go again.

Don't be too harsh. This may be the one who is able to explain all the wonderful things the Tories have done in government and so that leaves as the only important issue whether or not one knows what a woman is.

TooBigForMyBoots · 10/01/2024 19:33

Paul2023 · 10/01/2024 18:42

This Kier Starmer ? Who’s tough on crime ?

Ooh. That makes him look exciting.

What about someone who can't remember what sex his children are?

I sometimes call my DH by the cat's name. That doesn't mean I don't know he is a human not a feline.

Boris as far as I know isn't intending to run for election any time soon.

IClaudine · 10/01/2024 19:26

Paul2023 · 10/01/2024 19:08

I want a PM that can define what a woman is. Considering most people on here are female , I’m surprised more don’t want the same.

Oh, god. Here we go again.

I find it more scary to be led by someone who can't remember all kinds of details of the decisions he made during the biggest crisis this country has faced in my lifetime.

This. A Labour Government led by this dollop is scary.

I think he is really boring. There is nothing dynamic about him. Unfortunately, I also think he's morally corrupt. I don't want him to be prime minister but I want to vote Labour it's a conundrum.

Notonthestairs · 10/01/2024 19:18

For those attacking Starmer for working for overseas criminals sentenced to death, it’s been (Tory) government policy since 2010 to seek a global ban death sentences. A policy I am proud of.

No I have more sympathy with the victims of those crimes rather than defending those responsible.
What right did he have to interfere with the legal system in other countries?

No, as in no you don't believe in the rule of law @Paul2023
