If there was a GE today who would you vote for?

Bit cheeky but I’m curious to see if there are genuinely any Tory voters out there at all following another disastrous week for Rishi Sunak.

So who would get your vote?

I‘ll go first, I would vote Labour. As much as I would love to hear more on policy and a firm grittiness from them, I do understand that Keir Starmer is doing the best he can, in that he can’t alienate a large proportion of the electorate so needs to toe the line.

I'm not a huge fan of Starmer but if you're going vote to let the Tories in again at the next election because you just find Keir "totally cringe" then god fucking help you, or more importantly, everyone else.

Because hes a complete drip. He just has nothing about him, no leadership skills. On a world stage he will be walked all over

But he's already got a meeting with Macron, so getting himself in front of people and turning up to the world stage is a good start

And the joy of democracy is that people can disagree with what that is and how to achieve it.

But I still think anyone who believes that the majority of people will purposely vote for policies that are going to cause their own family detriment is living in cloud cuckoo land

I'm a Lib Dem voter but live in marginal conservative area. I'll be tactical voting Labour to get them out.

Unlike others on this thread, I vote for what I think is good for the society, not me personally. We have children in private school and whilst we don't want to pay more, it's a fair redistribution of wealth to add VAT to school fees.

This thread has reminded me that self interest in short term gains is alive and well. And then we wonder why our politicians are interested in long term investment in strategic infrastructure.

More sewage in the waterways and more flooding I say!

Taking back control of our borders was worth it for me.
Quite why the French keep letting migrants cross the channel I don't understand though. They need telling.

I quite agree the future of the country and the planet is not important as long as I can drive my SUV to my child's school so they don't have to be educated with poor people.

I would vote conservative after welsh labour bringing in the ridiculous 20 mph speed limit this week.

drivers should not be speeding, 20mph is fast enough, mind it does not help with some drivers using mobiles, etc when driving

You do now, surely, realise that the meat tax was never a policy and was never intended to be a policy, same as car sharing. It was never a policy so he has cancelled nothing.

You are confused. Sunak did not say he was scrapping a policy, he was scrapping the proposal of a meat and two veg tax.
