I can't believe what he is saying.

Almost that it was too complicated for him and his advisors to understand. How the hell was the public supposed to understand then?

He is basically slagging off the whole Committee and the procedures attached to it.
Surely that is not a good idea....

"Much of this interrogation is irrelevant, but I want to help you with your job" whilst looking at Harriet Harman

Patronising git

Now he is going on about No. 10 and 11 being a 'cramped townhouse'

AdamRyan · 22/03/2023 14:38

What a twat he is

Telling them off. And trying to change the terms from guidance to rules

I hate him

minou123 · 22/03/2023 14:38

Deflect, deflect, deflect

Nimbostratus100 · 22/03/2023 14:38

apparently, we have accused him of lying accidently, and we didn't mean it

minou123 · 22/03/2023 14:37

Here you all are. Thank you so much @DuncinToffee . I'm so pleased you are all here talking about thus because I suspect I'll need support watching this. 😁

I absolutely agree with David Allen Green tweet

LittleBowSheep · 22/03/2023 14:36

'Hand on heart' he said.

He hasn't got a heart.

More like 'hand on empty chest cavity'.

DuncinToffee · 22/03/2023 14:31

David Allen Green

The division bells interrupted Johnson just as he was getting into his oratorical stride.

So far, Johnson is playing to the gallery rather than engaging with the committee.

This speech is for outside consumption rather than an exercise in persuasion, or offering assistance.

No they weren't published funnily enough.

Good point. They were hardly publicity shots were they? That would've gone down well when members of the public couldn't even go to a funeral of a loved one.

We only saw the pics in the SG report

PreparationPreparationPrep · 22/03/2023 14:29

Sorry I was trying to reply to someone asking for a link !

Sistanotcista · 22/03/2023 14:28

Thank you so much!

I'm a few minutes behind. He's certainly going in attacking isn't he? It's unfair. That's not going to go down very well with the committee 😆

You can pick it up LIvE on the BBC app

Roussette · 22/03/2023 14:28

Yes, deffo not until after May elections so as not to influence ho hum

He can be as angry and belligerent as he likes, I am waiting for the questions. It's very different giving a long prepared statement in conjunction with your very expensive lawyer and his team.... and answering questions from the Committee

mibbelucieachwell · 22/03/2023 14:28

It wasn't just me. All the civil servants and Rishi are guilty too. I mean not guilty too.

toomuchlaundry · 22/03/2023 14:23

Will his vote be invalid if he gets thrown out?

He won't be thrown out (at least not today).

Committee have to agree their findings and submit report and recommendations to Parliament who will then vote on it.
Not likely to happen before May elections.

tobee · 22/03/2023 14:28

That was re the verdict @DuncinToffee

I am watching on BBC news. Martine Croxall doing her best to keep the smile off her face.

tobee · 22/03/2023 14:27

Seriously @DuncinToffee ?

I've mostly got the sound down. Bad enough looking at it though

Nimbostratus100 · 22/03/2023 14:26

is he seriously saying we can't think he was doing wrong, because he was doing it openly?

He who has stood up and lied brazenly and repeatedly in parliament? And acquired hundreds of thousands of pounds fraudulently, and indulged in open cronyism?

He lies and cheats blatantly and openly at all times

Notonthestairs · 22/03/2023 14:26

DuncinToffee · 22/03/2023 14:24

Those official photos were never published were they?

No they weren't published funnily enough.
