Having read many many negative comments on the numerous supportive Daily Mail articles those morning I think he is speaking more for the public than the Committee.

His 'defence' that if he was deliberately lying then lots of other people must be lying and it's unfair that they aren't being given the chance to speak is irrelevant. They didn't stand up in Parliament (as PM) and lie.
