Why are the Tories allowing this to happen to the country?

It is the bare faced lying that always gets to me , Sunak being interviewed on Newsnight 'we have a record number of GP's' , interviewer ' we have less GP's than before the pandemic ' . Cue stock 'I think what people want' answer.

Other countries don't have the sort of housing inequalities that we do.. nor broken sewage systems.. a crumbling health service (one option for the 7.2 m waiting for treatment is to send them overseas to Europe....)
We chose to shut down gas storage.. and not build reservoirs.. make AHPs pay for tuition.. not increase pay.. so staff quit.

Chose to leave one of the worlds largest and richest trading blocs....

I listened to Sunak saying he was having disaster centres to brain storm NHS responses WTF ??? he/they have been asleep at the wheel if they wait until its now a train wreck... we had 3.1m waiting for treatment in 2019... the issues have been apparent for years but Brexit took all their time and quite frankly they don't care.

There is no party that can please everybody. It would be lovely to give money out willy-nilly but it has to come from somewhere. We cannot overspend. So how do we decide who is a priority. It is an impossible job.

Labour either had to borrow the money to build these hospitals, adding massively to national debt and risk spooking the markets aka Truss, seek a private partnership OR don't build.

What should they have done? Where would we be now without these new (not quite so new now) hospitals.

How many Hospitals have the Cons built since 2010?

It feels like we are watching someone who has given their months notice and is determined to fuck up as much as possible while also emptying the stationary cupboard before they go and we are powerless to stop them.

Yes I do think the Tories are slowly and surely turning the UK into a right wing dictatatorship. But they are apt at doing it behind smoke screens and a communications team to la la la la over it. They have been "deadwooding the most vulnerable" for years.

The world is not perfect. I don't expect any party to deliver perfection. However, I do expect them to be HONOURABLE, which is quite frankly a joke that they call each other that.

They are corupt and self serving.

One big issue we face is a comparatively unhealthy population together with ageing population and free at point of use healthcare.

Real terms funding has gone up but it needs to increase by how much to meet issues - and who pays

Tax is high atm anyway. A greater tax burden and people with options re where they live. Hopefully it’ll work out under Labour.

Personally no, I don’t think that and there are a couple of issues with the current labour policies that would usually put me off. However, I do believe that the wealth and the debt would be more fairly distributed by a labour government and they are more likely to invest in us.

Tactically I can’t justify a vote for any party that dilutes the opportunity of getting this current crop of tories out of power.

@Horsesandzebras I was in a queue for passport control in October coming back from Spain.
The queue was very long , and there was a lot of huffing and puffing, when a member of staff called for people with European passports to join the much shorter queue at the next window.

As we walked away to join the shorter queue some thick as shit gammon, actually shouted, but what about us English, why do we have to queue for so long.
The perfectly English spoken Spanish official looked him straight in the eye, and told him that England had voted to queue!

I agree with you Starmer is marginally better in some ways (not hard with Corbyn) but others still bad. Although if they were in now they’d still be torn apart by further left pro union element and middle of party. You could see a bit with the picket line issue but as they are not in power it doesn’t matter.

Going with Brown’s ideas re constitutional or legal reform is another long lengthy, process that will suck time and money from every day issues for a worse outcome - we’ll have US voting system instead. Not learning much from Brexit there.

As for funding we still owe £55bn under PFI scheme for NHS and probably for education and great politically for Blair but we could use that now more due to demographic.

Then the issue of benefit expectation, we are at tipping point more receive benefits than pay tax, any higher and people paying for benefits will make different choices.

Plus eroding women’s rights issues.

Anyway they’ll probably get in, at least people will be happy about the U.K. and think it’s doing well. Hopefully worth it over downsides and they are right and expectations are met.

Yeah…. I don’t think we have the infrastructure or skills to set that up for the numbers that could afford it.

The entire system is broken. Record low interest rates have continued silly house prices. Which means rents are also mad. Enhanced of course by a regular flow of people across the channel putting further pressure on every system.
We're at risk of power cuts, the sewerage system doesn't work well enough and we don't store enough water for the summer.
And that's before we get to housing and medical services.
Globally we are on the verge of seriously huge emergencies. The war in Ukraine has meant global food is at risk. The production of fertilizer by gas and by Russia means food is more expensive. We only feed the world population using fertilizer and a peaceful Ukraine.

We need to call out corruption more imo.

They are creaming the economy to line their own and pals' pockets.

What’s really hit home for me is how utterly corrupt the country is’ Of course there has always been corruption in large public Services like the police, but it’s just rife now!

The police ( especially the met? seem to be on hawk to the present government and do their bidding willingly.
The amount of corruption in the Tory party is staggering and yet people keep voting for them.

Brexit was designed to strip the country of its assets and sell them off to the highest bidder!.
The lack of education of the population is staggering, especially political education.

I actually think those people who voted for Brexit should have all of the shit reigned upon them.

unfortunately it means, the rest of us will suffer as well.
I have duel passport so I have other options!
