If Labour came into power

If Labour were to come into power tomorrow, what is it people think they would do better?

Not what Labour governments of the past have done.. I mean Labour 2022. What would be new/better?

Labour are not fully in charge in Wales though. Despite devolution their powers are too limited by being part of the UK under a Tory government.
That's nonsense.

Labour in Wales are charge of key areas that are doing very badly, imho because they're terrified of falling out with the trade unions - eg education, health, public transport.
They've failed to create a skilled workforce and prefer fiddling with stuff like the LGBT action plan while happily erasing women and shutting down dissenting voices and blaming the UK Government for all the failures.

Dippydinosaurus · 06/02/2022 10:10

Labour don't really get a look in with a lot of the right wing MSM. They need to find another angle such as social media (or anything really) and quickly. I don't know much about Kier and he's too low profile. If there's any hope getting the Tories out they need to be more visible. So much corruption and sleaze going on and I've heard barely any opposition at all - there's so much they could be doing

Labour policies can be found very easily with a quick search of the internet. inews.co.uk/news/politics/labour-party-conference-2021-announcements-policy-climate-crime-education-1222508/amp&ved=2ahUKEwjyuriT0er1AhVMZMAKHWOAARcQFnoECCEQAQ&usg=AOvVaw0n4opgu0RTirJz6YGcFNy7" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Here is a summary of policy proposals from the last party conference in September. These are the their proposals re. the energy crisis.
The most important comment on this thread!

@Redgreenbluehooray

Labour in charge in Wales for 22 years has gone so well. Health service and education dire (worse than England) and eradicating women more important than sorting out the big stuff. Incompetent and hellbent on pushing ideology.

God help us if they get in at at UK level although I agree the Tories are a bunch of lying bastards too.

Yes, why don't you look at Wales to see how well Labour are performing? Confused
Mundra · 06/02/2022 09:50

You have misunderstood me. This is about what labour would do better.
Increased tax and increased borrowing are necessary.
We need huge investment in public services. Schools and social care are falling apart.

@FlapsInTheWind

I've emailed my MP (whom I voted for) to say I won't vote for him or his party while Bruised Johnson is PM.

If everyone that feels the same way I do did this, it might have some impact.

I did the same last week. Not feeling confident about the response I got back though!

I would vote for a pig in a muffler if I thought it would get this bunch of wankers out.

sunshineforest · 06/02/2022 08:03

@Mundra

Increased tax and increased borrowing.
Have you see how many billions the Tories have wasted over the past couple of years?!

Test and trace, PPR, unrecovered fraudulent business loans.....

I am a Labour voter. If they were to take over tomorrow they would get all the blame for the inflation/govt debt/cost of living crisis that's coming our way and be out of power again for another generation.

But would they be better? Yes. For a start some common fucking decency - I'm so angry about the cynical ghouls that form this Government.

Lampshading · 06/02/2022 07:58

@wafflyversatile

They'd be slightly less bad than the Tories. They'd still be shit though. Centrist fucking dad party. Welcome a Tory mp but reject Corbyn. Cunts.
Yeah have to agree. They need a leader and policies which actually reflects the ethos the Labour Party was founded on. KS is too much of a flip flop, his rebuttals as leader of the opposition are weak and sometimes petty rather than bringing anything new to the table. They'd be better than the current government no doubt, but they aren't a labour party I recognise, and the bar is exceptionally low.
Theworldisfullofgs · 06/02/2022 07:55

Increased tax and increased borrowing.

A: that's a lazy trope
B: that's what the Tories have been doing.

Redgreenbluehooray · 06/02/2022 07:52

QuentininQuarantino · 06/02/2022 07:50

Presumably KS meant that transmen had a cervix?

I’m no fan of the “TWAW/menstruaters” movement but half the Labour front bench are women, the Tory policies disproportionately affect women by a huge degree on a general scale. I don’t understand not voting out the tories based on this one thing.

jgw1 · 06/02/2022 07:47

@Mundra

Increased tax and increased borrowing.
That's what the Tories bring, this thread was meant to be about Labour, not the current governments appalling mismanagement of the finances.
OnlyFoolsnMothers · 06/02/2022 07:44

Tax rise and scrap the NI rise
Remove Vat on fuel
And if anything like their councils close every fucking road to cars.

Lolamento · 06/02/2022 07:39

@minipie

Literally not being the current lot would be good enough for me. At least as a start.
That is how you end like Venezuela 🙄
Lolamento · 06/02/2022 07:38

They will bring more hate and division. As seen with AR and David Lammy every time they open their mouth. Most of them will be as useless as Sadiq Khan. They will be still blaming the Tories and will tax the middle class to death. The world situation and adjustment after COVID will not sort it out by them. As this is obviously not a U.K. problem but worldwide.

Dreamstate · 06/02/2022 05:46

@frecklesmalone

Sir Keir was then asked: “Is it transphobic to say only women have a cervix?”

He said: “It is something that shouldn’t be said, it is not right.”

When the leader of a party cannot even get basic biology right what hope do you have

He believes trans women have a cervix which even the NHS say they don't hence why they don't need cervical screening

Its not dramatic at all. I do not wish to be referred to those awful terms cos or a menstruating person etc. I'm a woman.

I won't vote for anymore party that eradicates that.

FrecklesMalone · 06/02/2022 01:11

@Dreamstate

Men would finally get their way by erasing women that is what will be new. We will cease to exist.
Bit dramatic.
StarbucksSmarterSister · 06/02/2022 01:01

Increased tax and increased borrowing.

You mean compared to the Tories having doubled the national debt ( they actually borrow more than Labour, despite what they tell us) and taking taxes to a 70 year high ( according to the Torygraph)?

You are hilarious.
