Writing to my MP to get Boris to resign

Wrote to mine, got a letter back on HOC letter head that said nothing worth reading.

Written to my mp and received the standard ‘wait for Sue Gray’ plus what a great job Boris is doing. This was bad enough, then read on Facebook that multiple others received exact same reply word for word. Cannot wait for the May elections.

I assume you have a Tory MP, so you can ask them to send a letter to the 1922 Committee. The Committee can trigger a vote of no confidence against the current party leader if at least 54 MPs send similar letters.

Johnson is pure scum and will never resign on his own so he will have to be pushed by other Tories, which is likely to happen if they see that they are likely to lose the next election. Labour is at the top of all recent voting polls so these MPs must already be seriously concerned behind the scenes...

I wrote this morning as the delayed and watered down report was the last straw. I don’t hold out much hope though as when I asked him to not support Johnson in the leadership election I didn’t even receive an acknowledgement. I am in despair.

I had honestly thought that constituents could trigger a by-election at any point (if enough of them agreed). Seems like I was wrong, and there is specific criteria for this to be allowed.

Boris will never resign, he doesn’t have enough integrity to do so. The question is whether the MPs have enough integrity to remove a lying incompetent law-breaker.

So ask them. They only electrd him as leader because he convinced them that he was a man of the people who can win elections. The more people explain to his party that we want rid of BJ, the more chance there is that they’ll replace him.

She's MP of one of the safest Tory seats in the country.

In these constituencies there is all the more reason to write. She needs to be made aware that safe Tory seats may soon be a thing of the past unless swift action is taken.

I think it’s important to write so that MPs are aware of the feeling in their constituency.

I wrote to my MP to complain about Dominic Cummings and the Barnard Castle debacle. I got no reply.
I wrote again yesterday asking him to condemn the behaviour and write his letter to the 1922 committee.
I plan on writing to him every week until he replies. if he backs Boris I’m going to have to do something, not sure what but I want to make a stand on this. For me it is the last straw.

They are all out for themselves if you ask me, and will jump whichever way they think will advance their careers.

I've drafted something that said that I feel that the Tory MPs don't take some action then they are sanctioning that behaviour and aren't for to govern, so whilst he is PM I couldn't consider voting Tory. Not that I was going to anyway, but what does he know.[/quote]

I wrote to my MP after the Cummings debacle and he recently (and this really is a first) voted against Johnson in a debate. He's got a large majority but maybe he is thinking that his voting against May/for Johnson is not endearing him to his electorate. He will be getting another email from me about the leaving parties. Very different from when my DH had to leave work and I'll be pointing that out to them.

I think Truss may have damaged her leadership prospects by backing Johnson so quickly, I do think they have underestimated the public fury here. MP's offices were swamped with complaints after the Cummings-Barnard Castle, it's likely to have a similar effect this time as well.

My MP is Nadine Dorries. Her constituency is one of the strongest Tory seats in the country.

I've tried contacting her before, and she didn't even reply. I got a brush-off email back from someone in her office. She absolutely couldn't care less about the concerns of her constituents. She's out for herself.

Nah, I reckon he thinks that on a superficial level, Destroyer, but deep down if downright hatred and disgust was displayed physically in front of him, en masse, he's the lily-livered run crying home to mummy type.

Never mind this, I can't understand why people aren't planning a march in London near Downing St. If thousands of people shouting "Get Boris out" doesn't make him ashamed enough to step down I don't know what will....

MPs need to understand the strength of feeling among their constituents. Especially from those who would normally vote for them.

MPs are usually very alert to letters, for every letter written many more are thinking the same thing.

Send a letter. It can't hurt and could be part of nudging them in the right direction.

Yes, volume is key. If they get enough emails in their inbox, it will help to focus their minds.

My mp supported Cummings resigning after breaking the rules so he should support Johnson resigning too, but will he?! 🙄

If nothing else, it’s quite cathartic to send an email laying out everything that is wrong with politics at the moment.

Mine is a full on erg loon and still wrote the letter

Bottom line: he wants to keep his job

It would be a waste of time writing to mine. She's already in the cabinet, and has been on telly this week, nailing her colours (bright pink) to the mast. It is quite clear where her loyalties are.
