Writing to my MP to get Boris to resign

I am thinking about writing to my MP asking him to get Boris to resign. I've had enough of his lies, his people partying, everything. Has anyone else done this? Will it do any good?

I don't bother any more. He's a new MP and clearly keen to be toeing the line. He's always just given me cabinet talking points in reply to everything else. Voting labour next time, how much worse can they be.

@mum2jakie That was my thought, he just saw one more annoyed voter and thought, "I've got to send this." If the ancientgrans are telling them off what can they do.

I sent a very heartfelt and straightforward email to my MP today. Half an hour later BBC were reporting he'd submitted his letter. You might think it is a coincidence but I'm claiming it for me.
Maybe it was the straw that broke the camel's back? Well done 👍

It’s worth reminding your (Tory) MP that they represent the wishes of the constituents and it is the constituents who decide the outcome of the ballot box!
That was the line I took with my MP. Unable to vote for the party under his leadership. Still got a very wishy washy response back from my MP assuring me that she didn't attend any lockdown parties herself...

@BIWI oh yes I know. She never agrees with anything I express an opinion on. But obviously I use my democratic right to write to her about each and every single issue. Nasty nasty woman I won't let her have a free ride

I'm fairly sure that, having said he was waiting for the Gray report before making his decision, my MP will now say he's waiting for the police investigation to conclude. But it doesn't matter. I've still written to him to express my views. (TBF to him, even if I wouldn't really want to be Grin, he has always replied to me when I've written to him)

I wrote to our MP on Monday night stating that I felt his performance was appalling and he was not a fit leader. Sadly she's in the Cabinet and knows I'm a card carrying Labour member so won't agree
But it doesn't matter is she agrees with you! The point is you, as one of her constituents, are making your displeasure/view known. The more they realise people are angry - even if they're not Conservative voters - the better.

I write to my MP all the time. He's in pretty much the safest Tory seat in England and he's quite the yes man but having shown a modicum of independent thought recently said yesterday:

"There will be more evidence to come when police investigations have taken place, but it is currently not clear that the PM has been found personally guilty of ‘serious failures to observe’ the guidelines.

The full report should be made available when the police investigation concludes. Considering the challenges the nation faces at this time, my view is that the threshold required to necessitate a Prime Minister’s resignation has not been reached.

I can assure you I will review my position when the police investigation has concluded."

So backtracking somewhat ...

Yes that's true but I know that MPs do tally up how many letters they get on topics. If the PM is taking up lots of correspondence times that's important if they are wondering whether to support another leader instead.

Writing to mine would be completely pointless. I live in one of the safest Tory seats in the Midlands, and MP’s majority is several times bigger than Boris’s in Uxbridge. He knows his seat will always be safe whoever is leader so he doesn’t have to worry about Johnson’s unpopularity. He is an ambitious junior minister with his eyes on a seat in the cabinet so he is never going to rock the boat.

What a shit political system we have in this country.

However safe the seat is, the MP would still rather be in government than in opposition. MPs need to know that 1) we judge them personally if they support Boris and 2) they cannot hold onto power even if they keep their seats.

Mines a complete Tory “yes” man. His voting record is a horror of right wing nastiness. I’m tempted to write but I can’t see him not supporting BJ.

I’ve done this previously (after Cummings). I won’t bother this time, they were incredibly vocal in support then and have been on tv this time supporting. So I’m not bothering.

Whether he will do anything or not is not the point. The point is that he can't ignore how strongly people feel about this issue. But he'll never know if people like you just don't bother to tell him!

His job, after all, is to represent all his constituents.
