Bellini, I'm sorry if you felt you were unfairly treated but if I went on the Brexit thread and cut and pasted every insult by remainers to leavers, it would fill several pages and some were pretty disgusting. I think you would be hard pressed to find a handful of insults by leavers to remainers.

But that's in the past, those of us who came together in the Arms simply to share and discuss our views peacefully were not allowed to do so but no matter, there are other fora and we have found a place where we are free to speak as we wish.

Of course the weather is a political issue, everything can be. If it impacts on people's lives to the extent that their business and homes are ruined and their lives put in danger that is a serious political issue.

I suspect that Johnson is struggling with the enormous responsibility of being PM. He has created a hostile negotiating atmosphere with the EU before they've even got properly started. His partner is rumoured to have fallen out with Cummings and Cummings has fallen out with the press. He has also pissed off his pal Trump by giving the go-ahead to Huawei and backbench tories are starting to make dissenting rumbles.

Meanwhile the London Assembly is losing patience over delays to
the IOPC investigation of Johnson's conduct while Mayor.

Flooding is a problem. It visits every generation, in different times and places. My family were flooded out in Wiltshire in 1960. It was seriously horrible, but rain falls and weather happens. When did the weather become a political issue?

The political issue is the Environment Agency's focus on balancing wildlife diversity (a good idea) with managing landscape. Somerset exists because it's dredged for drainage (or used to be). The Netherlands land area is mostly below sea level but continues to be viable because there is a national commitment to keeping it that way.

I dont think the PM's time is best spent wading around in wellies. I'd rather he was thinking about avoiding a recurrence. Send a member of the Royal Family to be sympathetic.

Part of the job of the PM is to be a figurehead, a strong leader. Not to hide away in a mansion while certain of his citizens are flooded out of their homes.

I do wonder if there's more to his low profile than simply not being bothered.

Everyone (apart from Boris) is saying that the trade deals can’t be completed by December 2020. Will be interesting to see what happens this summer at the cut off point.

I hope Boris is working very hard, and quite quietly, to achieve his goals.
Some (like the EU negoatiations) are quite well defined and should move forward quicktime as the EU is looking very discombobulated. Others, like workiing on the infrastructure for the NE and Nw is likely to take more time and thought.
