A non-partisan politics pub thread for political chit chat....!!

Please stick within MN talk guidelines - any posts which you think may have crossed the line, please report rather than getting into scraps on thread 😠

Political punch-ups are soooo last decade - ain't nobody got time for that 🥊❌

Be nice! Be respectful!

S'ok to slag off politicians, but not other posters 🍻

She sounds snippy... 😂

EpicIndividual · 22/01/2020 19:22

I’ve snuck it on... 😱

SingingLily · 22/01/2020 19:21

I can rustle up some bar snacks if that will help the conversation to move along too Smile

hospitalityinspector · 22/01/2020 19:21

No Lily, Andrew Neil. Oh dear. It's not going well for ET. I bet she wants to 'go home'.

EpicIndividual · 22/01/2020 19:21

I’ll need updates on AN, DH will not allow me to commandeer the tv tonight and the conservatory is fecking freezing! 😞

Bad times.

EpicIndividual · 22/01/2020 19:20

Ooooh lily, is that a virgin Dmitri? Don’t mind if I do! Thanks!

SingingLily · 22/01/2020 19:19

I'll put some drinks on the bar for everyone.

🍷🥃🍺🍹🥂🧉🍷☕️🥛

time4chocolate · 22/01/2020 19:17

Don’t leave walking the fires roaring away and I’m just about to plonk myself down for a large 🍷in the snug - the more the merrier and all that😊

SingingLily · 22/01/2020 19:16

Do you mean the Parliament channel, Hospitality?

hospitalityinspector · 22/01/2020 19:15

Copper are you watching? Bit of a car crash so far. Hmm

SingingLily · 22/01/2020 19:15

Ties? I meant times, of course.

Drafted autocorrect!

NiceGuyNeddie · 22/01/2020 19:14

Thanks HQ Smile Good to know you're around

SingingLily · 22/01/2020 19:14

Back for a moment.

Just picking up the bit about Lord Dubs' amendment and want to say that I agree. He has devoted much ties and many years to championing the rights of the vulnerable and I hope that some room is found in the Parliamentary timetable for proper consideration.

Not engaging preserves the thread, and saves it from potential deletion.

Thank you Lily

I shall stop engaging now 💐

Oh dear. What the heck was wrong with my deleted post, I have been so careful. MN just doesn't like me. I dont want this thread to be deleted so I probably better leave for a while. Sorry guys for whatever I said that broke the rules. Possibly my comment about period poverty. idk

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 22/01/2020 19:09

Exactly.

Just ignore. It’s the only way.

DustyDiamond · 22/01/2020 19:08

I'm confused - you seem to be telling me what is acceptable posting behaviour while also telling me that that is not acceptable?

Not at all 🍷

If you read the full post, I explicitly said it was up to MNHQ what is/isn't acceptable

If you feel anyone has stepped over the line, then please report to MNHQ

“Please ignore attempts of derailment and report concerns to us. We're always happy to take a look. Not engaging preserves the thread, and saves it from potential deletion.”

Thank you so much Lily. 💐

EpicIndividual · 22/01/2020 19:06

Good news Walking! Getting there.

I hope the dubs amendment finds it’s own proper bill, where it can be properly debated, not just tacked on something else.

LilyMumsnet · 22/01/2020 19:06

Hi folks,

We're receiving very many reports about this thread.

We don't want to take it down, and don't believe we should have to.
A few posters are intent on goading each other, and it's not really fair on the rest of the posters here.

Please ignore attempts of derailment and report concerns to us. We're always happy to take a look. Not engaging preserves the thread, and saves it from potential deletion.

"The European Withdrawal Bill has passed the House of Lords and its final parliamentary hurdle. It is now heading for royal assent and the statute book."

EpicIndividual · 22/01/2020 19:03

I agree Copper, I actually think that tacking on such important amendments, that deserve their own scrutiny, does a huge disservice to those that the amendments are purporting to want to help.

Just my opinion of course...

NiceGuyNeddie · 22/01/2020 19:02

It's not for posters on the thread to determine what is it or is not acceptable posting behaviour

I'm confused - you seem to be telling me what is acceptable posting behaviour while also telling me that that is not acceptable? Confused

Coppersulphate · 22/01/2020 19:01

Just read that the HOL has backed down on all amendments, as they should of course. It's done ready for royal assent
