Uk media left bias

Does anyone think the media in uk is all far too much to the left? No documentries on any scandles or bad politics from hillery or obama but channel4 especially non stop anti trump documentries. The media telling half the voting population they were wrong for voting brexit? Brexiteers know about immigration and nothing else it would appear? Can anyone name any right wing satire or programme other then top gear? I feel i live in a country where to have leftiest views is ‘safe’ to have right wing views and you are held with contempt. I would bend over backwards to help somebody vote for a party i cant stand. But i dont feel many on the left would do the same for us of a sometimes right wing persuasion. Any thoughts?

Given that the BBC get accused of bias by both the right and left, I think it’s probably ok.

People forget that totally unbiased, neutral reporting, writing or broadcasting is pretty much impossible within a particular piece, article, story or program. What the BBC does is put out a mix of stuff.

One example (even if it is biased) does not make the BBC as a whole, biased.

The main Obama scandal was him once wearing a tan suit, so there's not as much material to work from. When you have corruption, foreign interference, nepotism, sexual assault, and all the other shenanigans that Trump has provided us all with, there's a lot more to make a scandal documentary about.

And as for a "left wing bias" - are you for real? Do you actually read the papers? The Mail, the Evening Standard, The Telegraph, The Economist, etc etc? I would frankly love it if there were a left-wing boas, but sadly there isn't, quite the opposite.

The BBC were relatively neutral in the Brexit campaign, because they thought remain would win, but since leave won they've gone into over drive. Leave voters are stupid and old "a basket of deplorable's". Look at when they sent sex pest Adrian Chiles to visit some Brexit voters and found a family who keep a horse in the house. Every story is despite Brexit. Unemployment falls despite Brexit, exports increase despite Brexit.

When Blair was in power, a lot of comics generally considered to be on the left satirised him and the politics of spin, WOMD, etc.... Now that the right are in power, comics use satire, parody, and stand-up as ways to explore and critique things like savage cuts to public services, the ludicrousness of Brexit, the weakness of Theresa May, the insanity of Johnson and Gove.... although Corbyn comes in for a fair amount of satirical treatment too, to be fair.

While the UK press is right wing as a whole, we have the option to choose what newspapers we buy. The daily mail and the express may be rabidly right wing however I have never bought either of those papers in my life. I used to buy the Guardian before it turned into a parody of itself and the Independent. The only time I read the Sun is when DH buys it for the football score and the Scottish Sun doesn't seem that right wing.
The BBC which me pay for on pain of prison seems to have gone beyond simply reporting the facts of the news and moved into the realm of social engineering. Look at for example the amount of Trans stories and Trans programmes the BBC have. Or their coverage of the migrant crisis or the US election.
Hilary Clinton ran a campaign so inept that she lost to Donald Trump. It was nothing to do with the Russians, the reason she lost was that she spent all her time preaching to the converted and ignored swing voters outside the cities and focused too on the analytics. However the BBC treated her like visiting royalty or something for example her appearances on the One Show and Graeme Norton. When was the last time the BBC had a failed Republican candidate on the Prime Time TV ?

I’m not sure that jokes about the Soviet Union would be particularly funny- given the amount of people who died in the gulag and then suffered after the fall of communism. Nor would Cuba be a particular funny subject- too much blood spilt there too.

Right wing comedy usually consists of MIL jokes and jokes about foreigners.

Just not funny anymore.

As for laughing at left wing economics, what would you mock? Free education and healthcare? Regulation of the banks? Government investment in infrastructure?

I guess it could be mocking liberal economics, failed comunist and socialist state dictators
I imagine it would be broad as leftist comedy can be- but it would be different and a breath of fresh and less predictable.
Am i annoyed with the anti trump documentries? Yes. Because im his biggest fan? No. Because its getting very boring and predictable now. Maybe a documentry could be done on clintons emails, weinsteins relationship n gifts to the obamas, giving putin the nodd to bomb syria and judging a democrate in a dim light for a change. So do i hate obama? No- i just like to see the media scrutinise the other side abit more some time. Just an opnion. Thank you for the polls btw, insightful and what im looking for on here. :)

Theres no young up n coming on tv and i just wonder why
I dont buy that right wing comedy has to be more offensive then left wing comedy n therefor should not be aired

Sorry melassa i wasnt clear. Im not advocating mcain should have been voted in for those reasons- im arguing the complete opposite. My opnion was the media implies trump got in because he was an old right wing guy and nothing more. My point is if the reasons were that simple for the USA obama would never have been elected in the first place.

Its all opnions on here, i dont think people are wrong for disagreeing with me- i cant stand that type of arrogence in people. Just simply seeing what peoples thoughts are compared to mine and how we see things- i try to avoid being rude or agressive or belittle someone for having a different view. But all political discussions get heated quickly- its hard lol :)

Are you a Republican white guy? I really don't see why one should pick a) a guy, b) why he needs to be white and c) a republican. You've got one now and the US has become a laughing stock!

Umm yes i do know what political satire is. It is aimed at politics in general rather then just the party in power. I dont think thats a far fetched definition.

Whilst I don't really agree with the premise of the OP (I like the BBC and think it does a pretty good job) I do find the thought that Channel 4 news is unbiased hilarious.

Also the point about political satire I notice is that right wing politicians are lambasted for being right wing and left wing politicians are lambasted for being right wing...or not left wing ENOUGH

I think the right can cope though.

Living abroad I am constantly aware of how right wing the UK press is, compared to a lot of European continental press. Even the Guardian is more centrist than left wing.

OP are you from the US? I would imagine so from your fixation with Hillary and Obama. The US press is shockingly conservative compared to our enlightened European values so I can see why you might see a "left wing" bias, but believe me, it's really not there.
