Please can someone explain? Will we pay if we leave EU without a deal?

With all this talk of billions of pounds which we are supposed to owe if we leave and talk of continuing to pay after we leave, I am in the dark. If we walk away with no deal will we pay anything like the amounts talked about? If we are able to do that surely the EU will be big losers as well as us! I am at a loss. Grateful for your input as I am bewildered. I voted to remain but must say the shenanigans being played by the EU are showing them as more like the Mafia than a democratic institution.

What in the world does Italy's external debt have to do with the EU

Sorry, I thought I made that quite clear when I quoted this:

The debt Italy owes to the rest of Europe — 25% of its GDP — is so bad that a default would "shatter" the country, cripple Europe with unpaid debts and wipe 0.4% off global GDP, according to Oxford Economics analyst Taha Sae

@M4dad

What in the world does Italy's external debt have to do with the EU, SM or CU?

Again, since you have not contributed any facts thus far: please enlighten us with your advantaged view of what the SM is and what a CU is and why it's such a bad thing to be a part of them.

What's your Body Mass Index? Go on mate. Tell us. Do you struggle to see your feet

Olivia,

I think you're upset, go and get some fresh air and come back to the thread a little more clear headed.

Quite why you think I'm fat is beyond me.

OliviaD68 · 24/10/2017 15:49

@Antigonads

Just having some fun now. Sorry if I offended. You are right; I'll behave now.

Getting back on thread:

The debt Italy owes to the rest of Europe — 25% of its GDP — is so bad that a default would "shatter" the country, cripple Europe with unpaid debts, and wipe 0.4% off global GDP, according to Oxford Economics analyst Taha Saei

Yet we are constantly told by Remainers that the EU is the only true way and if you disagree you must be old and fat.

Antigonads · 24/10/2017 15:47

Really Olivia. You are not doing yourself any favours now.

@M4dad

I love your posts because they are all so easy to address. Thick as pigshit.

Well, I was an adviser after the onset of the financial crisis. Now that's AFTER the pigshit shit the fan. The TROIKA didn't exist PRE-CRISIS BECAUSE THERE WAS NO CRISIS. Thick as pigshit.

Italy I have addressed: mismanaged for decades. Poor governance. Zero to do with whether the EU, SM or CU are a good idea.

I want us to have continued access to the single market and a member of the customs union. Do you even know what these are? What the difference is? Please enlighten us in your own (not wikipedia) words ... Go on. Waiting for your next big one.

M4Dad · 24/10/2017 15:43

You assert that Olivias" excuses are weak but really you need to explain why you think that

Me thinking that Olivia's excuses are weak have nothing to do with her gender. I tihnk they are weak because in my opinion they don't make a good argument.

M4Dad · 24/10/2017 15:41

No older white fat man (70% of the UK is overweight so educated guess) is going to intimidate me

Holy crap? Really? Ha ha.

Moussemoose · 24/10/2017 15:40

a horrible, nasty person

Me???

Yeah, probably.

M4Dad

You assert that Olivias" excuses are weak but really you need to explain why you think that. You don't want your assertions to be gratuitous.

I just know how sensitive us ladies can be, especially if it's 'that time

I worry Olivia it's because I'm a girl

I take umbrage at the fact you are insinuating that I have been sexist. I haven't and for you to try and imply that I have makes you out to be a horrible, nasty person.

M4Dad · 24/10/2017 15:34

I don't mind the abuse. If I can dish it out I can take it

Where have I "abused" anyone?

M4Dad · 24/10/2017 15:34

I worked in Greece as an economic adviser to the Troika ... And in Spain: same role

Forgive me for saying so, it appears you didn't give them very good advice. Right, so you've made weak excuses for Spain and Greece (a combined population of 65 million people, who now appear to be screwed over with no apparent help coming from anywhere) and Italy, Portugal and other countries are starting to teeter.........yet why are you so desperate to be part of this Union?

Moussemoose · 24/10/2017 15:33

I just know how sensitive us ladies can be, especially if it's 'that time'.

I worry Olivia it's because I'm a girl.

I do like the phrase 'gratuitous assertions' I need to find excuses to use it 3_times today and then I'll own it.

OliviaD68 · 24/10/2017 15:26

@Moussemoose

I don't mind the abuse. If I can dish it out I can take it.

Wait til we get into WTO rules. Still waiting for @M4dad to dish out his tosh on why this is going to be economic miracle for the UK.

M4Dad · 24/10/2017 15:25

This sort of thing is just like in the pub when you're having a good chat with your mates and some bloke you don't know pulls up a chair, sits himself down and proceeds to tell the ladies how it really is

It really isn't, that' just in your head.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 24/10/2017 15:25

Not offended at all olivia thank you

I am finding this very informative

M4Dad · 24/10/2017 15:24

This thread was really interesting until it got derailed by this bloke spamming the board about the war and telling women to stop swearing

I'd be interested in your definition of "spamming" as I certainly have done nothing of the sort.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 24/10/2017 15:24

Oh i dont disagree with you there mousse

Its just that im sat here going 'ouch'

OliviaD68 · 24/10/2017 15:24

@Rufustherenegadereindeer1

Sorry if I offended. It's often the only way to get focus on issues that are going to damage us badly if we don't get them right. So passion takes over.

I don't mind a good debate but need opponents to be prepared with facts not 'gratuitous assertions' as my maths teacher used to chide me for.

Moussemoose · 24/10/2017 15:21

Don't anybody have a go at Olivia she is explaining all sorts of economic stuff to me.

Or I could just listen to the patronising bloke who knows bollocks all.

OliviaD68 · 24/10/2017 15:20

@QueenOfTheSardines

Problem is @M4dad has no substance. Can't argue why something is good or bad because he has no facts. Poorly educated and probably a bit dim.

There are Brexiteers that do have substance. Peter North is a case in point. He knows what he is talking about. I rarely disagree with him, especially when he lays the facts out. Unlike @M4dad who is clueless. Poor thing
