Genuine question for Tory voters

Nope, hasn't changed my vote. I actually like May, I think she's pretty measured. I think Corbyn is ok too, but I laugh in the face of the Labour manifesto. It's a joke.
Complete fantasy land. Brexit needs to be negotiated on the best possible terms for the country and I think May is our best bet for that.

I voted remain and I am interested in the views of IFS. I am not a right wingers but doesn't mean I have to vote Corbyn.

Maybe debate just isn't that important.

I am dithering, I am usually a Tory, but I am not keen on Labour, Green party it is then, just to get my vote in.

Like others it's Labour's front bench - WTF? It's not even the views... it's the fact that it consists of what was left to pick from when everyone else distanced themselves from the hard left. How embarrassing to be represented by some seriously thick people.

Magical is spot on especially on the example of selling your house. I have a relative who is selling an expensive house in SE. She is roaring mad with each estate agent as they fail to even get an offer for the house. She took the highest valuation and tbh its a lovely house but the house is worth what someone will pay for it (don't you just hate people who use this expresson when you are trying to sell your OWN house!).

Labour scare the life out of me. All of their promises will directly affect me, pension, uni fees, free social care, free NHS, money for everyone (for the better!) and I cannot see it working. It will bankrupt us. John Mcdonnell is very left thinking although I always think they spout off nonsense and then do the complete opposite for themselves, Diane Abbott I am looking at you.

I do feel that all the labour money tree promises are this elections equivalent of the Brexit bus. £350 million to the NHS. It was all worked out and costed wasn't it? Oh wait, no.
I wouldn't be human if I wasn't tempted by having my student DC £100k+ debt written off, along with all the other goodies.
Also the costings, such as they are, won't take account of huge pay rises that unions will want (not unreasonabley) for their support.

Still voting for May. Debates are an American import, executed poorly here in the UK.

TV debates really are unimportant, they always descend into "let's rip apart whoever is in power" so it is by-the-by that she did not take part.

THIS election is about BREXIT - it is about getting us out of Europe with as little stress as possible. The election was called to give May the mandate to do just that. It is ALL about BREXIT. We know her views, we know what she wants.

A decent deal for the UK.

I just wish the "manifesto" stuff was saved til after BREXIT. BREXIT is THE most important thing happening in this term.

God this thread is depressing. So many mumsnetters who obviously don't care about the 4 million children in poverty in this country, or about their mums who are presenting at their gp's (when they can get an appointment) with malnutrition. Or the disabled people who have had their benefits cut. Have a little compassion.

Even if Corbyn achieves only half of what he promises, those of us really struggling will be so much better off.

I'd consider voting Labour if they got rid of their Marxist waste of oxygen. With him there, cat in hell's chance.

Well, some of these 2017 election threads should disabuse us for once and for all of the idea that liberals have the monopoly on gratuitous insults.

'PollyPerky' you do realise that the recession was a global one? And that at the time the tories wholeheartedly supported labours attempt to steer us through? Labour didn't actually bankrupt the country.

Agree he should do Today but the main TV debate is much more important. It really is the main event insofar as more people see it than any other debate or media appearance. As I said, I think it's wrong to put too much emphasis on the way a person can 'perform' on TV. Politics is too important for that. But a proper exchange of views between the people who hope to be PM is surely vital during an election campaign?

I don't think they have run the best campaign ever, not by far, but I live in total fear of any other party trying to run the country. (Having lived and worked through the 70s, the 3-day week and the power of the unions.)

I also lived and worked through the 70s, and I too remember the 3 day week - which took place under Ted Heath as (Conservative) Prime Minister after 4 years of Conservative government

But crikey, still stunned how many are gullible/naive enough to fall for it. I thought when his manifesto was leaked that he would lose total credibility (well the last shreds he was clinging to). But i guess the possibility of the government paying for everything is very enticing.

It’s like the Foxtons land agent that values your house for sale totally unrealistically. But you are so hypnotised at the possibility of the large sum dangled that you choose them to market your property because just WHAT IF, WHAT IF one of those 100s of foreign investors they have lined up waiting for a property JUST LIKE YOURS actually materialises and will pay well over market value for your property.

Why are people not up in arms about the fact Jeremy Corbyn has never done the Today programme despite repeated invitation and always sends John McDonald or Diane Abbott?

No interest in seeing politicians exchange sound bites which are dumbed down for the masses and then parroted on here If the best the Labour Party can offer is Corbyn, McDonnell and bloody Abbott, God help us all if they get in.
