gotta Yes I am a nurse now, and have had cause to use the NHS as a patient this year. I felt you were rude as you were implying that I was lying about being a nurse.

Headofthehive - you are a very lucky nurse indeed if what you say is true. I hear the opposite all the time - both from people I know who work on the front line, and from experiencing the services myself.

The Red Cross declared a Humanitarian Crisis in the NHS earlier this year - it doesn't get much more critical than that, surely? We are a rich nation - and yet we have people actually starving on wards because they are not provided with the most basic care.

Most of the polls show the Tories well ahead. And historically, the polls tend to overestimate Labour support, so it would be really surprising if Labour won. And don't forget there is practically zero chance of Labour gaining back all the seats it lost to the SNP in Scotland.

Labour winning is the only hope ordinary people, the type on zero hours who can't afford private healthcare or education, have got. I am praying for a Labour win. Evil May, funding war and bombings abroad, must not be allowed to prevail.

If you don't vote at all, don't shove the blame onto someone else. It's all you have. If you vote and still get a liar, well at least you tried your best and participated in the democratic process.. Isn't this what we say to our kids?

To be honest, I think the Tories will get their landslide. I don't think this campaign has been great for May's career, but I think it will pay off for them.

Corbyn has done a much better campaign than I think anyone expected but that could cause more rifts and division within the Labour Party and an unopposed Tory majority is a bleak prospect for us all.

I can't understand how people can be so convinced that there is no money, it just isn't there - but accept without flinching that we can afford tens of billions to pay for Brexit, we can afford tax breaks for the wealthy and we can afford a ton of new grammar schools. However, it's naive and deluded to believe in the 'fantasy' of a society that provides healthcare to all regardless of income, looks after the vulnerable, delivers a fair and high quality education and abhors poverty.

None of the parties deserve to win this election, they are all a disaster. The best outcome may be a hung parliament, divided to the extent that none of them can do anything much for the next few years. That would likely be less damaging than any of them being able to follow their proposals (not that any government ever does anyway).

Anyone hear the Jeremy Corbyn interview on Woman's hour? It started badly with him not knowing the exact financial figures the journalist was demanding. However he remained calm and I thought he was dignified and respectful. He grew in my estimation. I became increasingly annoyed by the aggressive journalist who was clearly partisan and looking to make some brownie points for her own career. I'm not a Labour supporter but this time they can have a cross from me.

Yes, and a very weak statement re Trump pulling out of the Paris agreement. Further alienating the UK from Europe.

alltouchedout totally agree. The confrontational approach might speak to the Ukippers or disaffected Labour supporters whose votes she wants but where is the message for remainers? Is refusing to stand alongside the other G7 leaders over climate control a sign of things to come? We stand with Trump but not with Europe? Yuk.

I don't think the Tories are competent to take on the Brexit negotiations. I think they're starting off with totally the wrong approach, one almost guaranteed to make the whole thing as fractious and difficult and unpleasant as possible. I understand why that plays well with a certain element of the electorate, but the fact that they think it's the best way to make Brexit as much of a success as it can be tells me that they are not to be trusted with it at all.

If we didn't look at the NHS estates we would still be holding onto all those fever hospitals from the 1930s instead of using brownfield land to create more space for housing. Which I think is much needed.

I think it's good to have a strategic review of estates and whether they are fit for use be bearing in mind healthcare is changing. Whereas twenty years ago, some people were in hospital for weeks for Iv antibiotics, now they might go home instead. So instead of a ward bed, you might need a office to coordinate.
The concept of looking at space metrics seems in a similar vein to looking at best practice elsewhere - not that I get particularly excited about the space in which healthcare is delivered but i agree its good to look at!

Particularly looking at under-utilised space / land in London and selling / repurposing it for NHS workers housing seems a positive move.
This sort of organisation has always gone on, but piecemeal so the setting up of an overarching body might be helpful.

As to the incentive described, I am a little concerned about, however I do realise that unless there are incentives, often things don't happen.

Britain Elects doesn't carry out its own polls. It just reports the results of polls from whatever organisation carries them out.

Sorry, typed my last post out in a hurry - arghh. What I'm basically saying is; the Labour Party as a whole, are not strong & stable enough to take on the Brexit negotiations. I just don't think they are - do you? Corbyn just doesn't have enough support from his own party.

The TNS poll is interesting regarding movement of the Labour vote.

Different to most of the others.

Though the Tories will want a narrow poll as that gets their voters out. Labour's vote tends to peak early and remain steady.
