Muckypup that is not such a bad theory actually. Let's face it who the hell would want to lead the negotiations in Europe. Half the country will blame you if you don't get a soft brexit a quarter want a hard brexit and the last quarter wants another referendum. Whichever way it's political suicide.

I hope those Labour and public sector workers who are voting for the Tories don't come along whining in the next few years when they see the NHS and education trashed - oh and find that their elderly parents can't afford carers or lose their house in the process. I hope they remind themselves that this was what they voted for.

I think Corbyn had some very strong moments today. I now really really like Lucas too.
There were many moments when Rudd literally destroyed Tory party side:

1. When she tried to defend the arms sell to Saudis by saying it is good for the industry. That was a major fuck up.
2. When she didn't say much against Corbyn's "have you ever been to a food bank?" line.
3. When she said "judge us on our record", I nearly fell out of sofa laughing, so did the audience.

I also think Corbyn and Lucas came our strongest. Farron did look like he can talk but I think his only hope is in an alliance with Labour and Green now.
I think the biggest applauses went to Lucas and Corbyn and rightly so too.

I don't know. I'd like to think that people have started to see the reality of Tory rule but I just think lots of people don't really think about this stuff. They just go out and vote for whomever they voted for last time, or who their parents always voted for, or who their partner voted for.

I had dinner with a group of friends last week, all intelligent women. All kind, hardworking, lovely women. Kids at state schools. Working in education, many of them. Not a hedge fund manager among them! All of them Tory voters. All of them incredulous that I am voting labour, absolutely incredulous. One of them actually said, how can you vote for that man, how can you think he'll be able to run the country when he can't even trim the rose bush over his front door?

They aren't stupid. They aren't evil. They just don't think that hard about it. They don't want to pay more tax, that's what it boils down to. They're OK, they're comfortable enough, so why should they make their lives more 'difficult' by voting for anyone but the Tories? And that's why I think we'll lose, because they are the norm in this country.

Lass genuine observation - I can't understand how anyone can be committed enough to be a member of a political party yet decide to vote for a different party with such wildly opposing principles? Aren't you voting for party policies, not the party leader?

literally every other poll - yougov seems to be very pro labour at the moment. This morning they were saying that there would be a hung parliament.

I will be voting SNP.

LadyDeadpool I think anything showing a lead of less than 10 - 12 points for the Tories basically relies on some pretty heroic & unlikely assumptions about turnout amongst 18-25 year olds.

The personal attacks on Corbyn should disgust anyone with even half decency about them. Even Thatcher said attacking the person showed you lost the argument -

It's very interesting to see you say this when a huge number of Corbyn 'fans' have been extremely nasty to people who disgree with his political views. Did you say the same thing when Nigel Farage was repeatedly vilified and hounded? It appears it's acceptable to many when it's Nigel Farage and they don't like his views yet God forbid anyone dares say an ill word against Corbyn. Very interesting indeed.

FWIW I don't know who I am voting for yet but if I decide to vote Tory (unlikely) then I know if I say anything on here I'd be called stupid, ignorant, selfish etc ... by many many Corbyn followers; I couldn't say the same about Mays supporters if I were to say I'd decided to vote Tory. It shouldn't sway my opinion about who to vote for but it does because if voting Labour would feel like I'd been pressured/bullied/guilt-tripped into it because obviously voting Tory would mean I have no conscience

Not sure where people are getting the 10 point lead stuff from? YouGov and Newsnight have Tories at a 3 point lead.

I'll bite. I will be voting Conservative for the first time ever in a general election. First election I voted in was 1979 ; kept faith during the wilderness years of Foot and Kinnock.

I am a Labour party member. I did not vote for Corbyn. I think Corbyn is a petulant, tetchy, narrow minded, incompetent misogynist who will be utterly useless as PM. And that is before you even get started on MConnell and Abbott.

If Sturgeon gets her way re another Scottish independence he will be a disaster as he will refuse to work in a "Better Together" campaign in the same way he refuse to work effectively with Remain.

Two of my friends a teacher and a nurse both say they are voting conservative.
They surprised me really as I haven't heard any other public service employees saying this, ever.

I think the Tories will win - but hopefully with a really reduced majority so May can't claim to have a strong mandate. She's a disgrace.

Fingers crossed. I actually find it hard to articulate how much I loathe the Tories and take heart that most people I know can see them for what they are. It's not like you even need to see through the lies, they have been perfectly honest about the 5 years of hell they are about to unleash on us

I don't think TM will remain as Tory leader for very long whichever way the result goes. (I gather Boris is favourite to take over).

I think the Tories will still win, but not the landslide victory they were hoping for. Corbyn has had a much better campaign than May - I'd really like to see that translate into seats in parliament.

It's the hope that is most excruciating but I fear those selfish silent voters will slide into the polling station thinking me me me and cross the Tory box.
They never think they will be old, ill or out of work.
