Agree celtic - if someone was put off Labour because they were too similar to the Tories, why the hell would they vote for the Tories instead? The mind boggles.

Red Tories is an argument against Labour I could have understood in the past but not now. Labour are clearly anti austerity and a long long way from the Tories.

If you are concerned about the myth that Labour somehow bankrupted the country, or debt is higher now (a lot higher) than it was when the Tories took over. And put public services are on their knees.

Those who wouldn't vote Labour because of Blair /Brown, I am mystified why you wouldn't now? The party leadership is a fair way from them now!

And "the hardest possible Brexit" would be leaving with no deals agreed on either trade or borders. Shit for everyone.

i'll vote Conservative, begrudgingly because I want the hardest possible Brexit. At the next election, 2021 or whenever, I'll be back to UKIP.

Because Tory are the only party capable of governing. Look at the alternatives:

Labour - economically illiterate, a fractured party, cast into the wilderness by an ineffective, unelectable leader.

LibDem - led by dim Tim who could bore for England, a party obsessed with one policy which is doomed to failure.

SNP - Sturgeon is another one policy obsessive who may lose a few seats to Scottish Conservatives, with any luck.

Green Party - bonkers policies.

I would only vote Conservative if the BNP were likely to win.

I also agree that spoiling a ballot is much better than not voting at all - a huge number of spoiled ballots would at least let them know that people are pissed off rather than apathetic.

I live in a very safe Tory seat.

I actually quite like our MP, he seems okay and willing to engage with the community. He was also a remainer.

I don't want to vote for him because I don't want to vote for May's government but options are limited. Labour are a shambles and I really dislike my local Lib Dem MP. She said something quite outgrageous to me in writing prior to the last election in response to an enquiry I sent.

People will vote Tory as quite frankly what options are there? They are all bad choices.

For me personally I am considering not voting for the first time.

Why spoil the ballot paper?

Because I am not apathetic about politics and I would like to have a say.

My say just happens to be that they are all a bunch a lying selfserving shitbags, that are only in it for themselves.

And I can't see anytime when they will put that or NOTA on a ballot.

Spoiling your paper is a valid choice. You are counted in the turnout. In the event of a close result, your paper will be scrutinised.

I would like ballot papers to have either a 'None of the above' or an 'anti vote'

I should have specified that I won't be voting tory.

My family suffered under the tory government under thatcher (we also suffered under labour). So I do know all about it, but it would be indigenous to say that all suffered.

Because taking part in democracy is important. Because telling those that lead us that we are so naffed off that we will actively spoil our ballot instead of voting for any of them is making a point (and is counted alongside the tallies for each party, more importantly).

Staying at home and not bothering means we can be assumed to be happy or indifferent, and whoever wins can claim our tacit support, even if we didn't give it.

I did RTFT, just as I read the other thread about it, which was largely the same. Your own words say you can't understand why people vote differently than you, and then go onto infer all sorts of nasty things about those people because of it.

But it is my opinion, which I am entitled to.
