...Who are Arses to pretend that they spoke with one voice in June 2016, that they all wanted the same thing and voters all voted for the same version of Brexit. It's was Bleeding Obvious that the official Leave campaign had a wide range of views what Brexit should be, and voters equally decided their vote for diverse reasons, anything but knowing precisely what they would get.

(Just listening to some ArseHat politician on Piennar's Politics, argh!!)

YY. It was the ultimate wish fulfilment referendum.

It's so frustrating that we still haven't moved on from the hobby extremes insisting that the opposing side are all a big lump of homogeneous X.

We'll never move forward if we keep this up.

A4Document · 18/12/2016 18:56

Leavers voted for fifty different flavours of pie in the sky.

Actually, so did the remainers. No-one can predict what the EU will be like in a few years, or several years, or decades down the line.

DarthPlagueis · 18/12/2016 18:01

Sally is right about the PIIGS issue, half of the Greek economy is "informal" and there are major issue with tax collection for the bits that aren't. Ireland is no longer in trouble, Italy's finanacial and political problems go back way further than the Euro. As Sally says being in the euro gives them fewer options, but it isn't to blame for the situation in those countries.

In the light of what several posters have said, we have edited the title of this thread as it's not in the spirit of Mumsnet to physically attack those you disagree with.

larrygrylls · 18/12/2016 13:27

Sally,

Sounds like you ran away to me, unless your screen name is not as it seems.

The Euro and the exchange rates the Southern European countries went into it explains most of the problems in Southern Europe.

Yes, they should have worked harder and paid tax but now they are in a vicious circle that they cannot escape from by devaluing.

especially in a heightened pre-menstrual state LOL

JustAnotherPoster00 · 18/12/2016 10:04

Kaija Best explanation of stabby I've seen Grin

Kaija · 18/12/2016 10:01

"Firstly, stabby is not English. Secondly, does it mean you actually want to stab someone who voted for Brexit?! "

Larry, thanks for the mansplain.

"Stabby" is very much a Mumsnet word. It has quite a history on here for the extreme irritation felt, especially in a heightened pre-menstrual state, towards those that confidently swing their opinions around as facts while having no clue what they're talking about.

Hth.

Kaija · 18/12/2016 09:46

"There is no political body fighting for Brexit."

???

Believeitornot · 18/12/2016 09:40

For those who voted leave, I suggest you find out exactly what being a member of the EU means and exactly how difficult it is to do so.

it isn't like being a member of a gym where you cancel your subscription Hmm

As for those bleating about immigration, what about non EU immigration Hmm how does the EU tackle that?

Do you honestly believe that it is immigration which is the cause of our problems?

Have you just glossed over the rising elderly population? The increase in obesity which puts a massive strain on our health system?

What about our imbalanced economy? Hmm we as a country rely on the financial services sector in London. We aren't renown for making things. What do we have to offer the world in terms of trade?

as for a democratic mandate, sorry but legally the EU referendum was advisory. It has no legal basis.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 18/12/2016 09:36

But to have a plan that remainers shout out at us to explain? No, I don't think that leave voters need to detail a plan.

Then you've voted for hot air.

dreamingofLombok · 18/12/2016 09:34

I love that tryingtosaveup is more than happy with prices going up - oh the irony unless she/he is very wealthy but the name doesn't suggest as much does it...

lovelearning · 18/12/2016 09:33

I can't think of a way.

There is no political body fighting for Brexit.

That's the problem.

Kaija · 18/12/2016 09:26

Can anyone who is keen to reduce immigration give any specific examples of how it is affecting them personally? And suggest why immigration from outside the EU is almost at the same level as immigration from within the EU?

Then have a look at this uk population graph and consider getting some perspective.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 18/12/2016 09:23

Why this insistance that leavers should have a 'plan'? Ghost. Of course we have an idea as individuals of how we would like it to pan out. But to have a plan that remainers shout out at us to explain? No, I don't think that leave voters need to detail a plan.

lovelearning I can't think of a way.

lovelearning · 18/12/2016 09:17

leavers are powerless to do much

There are millions of like-minded people.

How do we force the issue?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 18/12/2016 09:14

I don't know what remainers suggest we do?

but surely as a leave voter you'd have some ideas about how things would pan out and some feasibility of a plan? I mean nobody would vote for a broad set of possibilities that had little chance of implementation in the cold light of day would they?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 18/12/2016 09:03

I agree IamWendy Yes we voted to leave the EU because it was a decision put to us. The hope is that immigration will be reduced, although unfortunately we can do nothing about making that happen, other than trust the government - or parliament if the court case goes that way - to get the best deals or us - free movement restricted, good trade deals etc.

At this point in time leavers are powerless to do much and I don't know what remainers suggest we do?

JustAnotherPoster00 · 18/12/2016 08:59

Isnt that what is boils down to though? Every time 1 of these brexit threads start the main focus is still immigration and how we cant 'fit' more people in, the vile breaking point poster still resonates with some xenophobes people, and even those that said theirs wasnt a vote about immigration they knew thats what they were voting for and it doesnt matter how you explain to them that any issue they have with immigration, unless it is purely xenophobic, can be explained away as previous governments lack of funding, no matter what colour the party.

winkywinkola · 18/12/2016 08:55

Who said anything about World War 3??

More leave bullshit.

But you will see the cost of living rise. Where people are already struggling. Especially struggling in Wales and Sunderland.

SaltyMyDear · 18/12/2016 08:53

But you didn't vote to reduce immigration- you voted to leave the EU.

Leaving the EU doesn't necessarily mean immigration will reduce.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 18/12/2016 08:48

Nice hyperbole there Wendy.

The pound hit a 30 year low and cost of living is up. Both on the back of the referendum. We haven't even triggered A50 yet.

IamWendy · 18/12/2016 08:41

But the dire consequences were mostly utter bullshit! WW3??? Hasn't our economy already done far better that even the most generous predictions?
And to say ok, let's take a slight and temporary hit on cost of living in order to free ourselves from this sinking Goliath seems like common sense to me.
I get so sick of hearing yet more stupid decisions made in order to improve the immediate short term problems, like bringing in silly amounts of immigrants to pay for an ageing population, but not thinking that this vast influx of humanity will age too!!

It feels like we are putting borrowed bowls under the leaks in our roof, not buying any new bowls, and hoping our two sheets of kitchen roll will stop the overflow.
