Trump is appointing aggressively racist and misogynistic people to positions of power.

Steve Bannon is not just "politically incorrect" and he's not challenging the elite for the good of the normal American citizen. He's fascist scum intent on creating an America where white men are in charge and where women and non-whites know their place.

There is no bigger critic of neoliberalism than I, but I'm just not buying the idea that Trump is anything more than an opportunistic, power-hungry bigot. You (and many other Trump supporters) may not be racist or misogynistic, but that doesn't stop Trump being exactly those things. A politician is NOT defined by the people who vote for him, and if you think otherwise you're being naïve.

All the stuff you are saying about how important it is to sweep away the old political regimes across the Western world so that fairness and social justice can be reatored... that has no bearing whatsoever on what Trump will actually do now he's in power. Trump is a con-man by trade and he's used you and people like you to get into power. And he'll continue to use you and those like you for as long as you turn a blind eye to the acts of injustice he commits in the name of "smashing the elite".

But he's in power now, so you've won and well find out if you're right or not. However, if it turns out you're wrong, it's going to be your responsibility to come on here and say that Trump needs to go. Whatever happens next is on you.

Just slightly bemused that theres an expectation being put on our Foreign Minister to call out the offensive ones.... I get a bit tied up in knots with the whole PC thing. Apart from Ed here, attempting to give us some comfort that every other world leader, apart from Trump, is indeed a fine upstanding citizen, but can someone explain "dont normalise racism and misogyny"? "Normalise" is being thrown around alot at the moment, Id just like to be clear what offence I may be committing on that front.

Well here's the thing Claig, political correctness is about using polite language about minorities, women, the disabled.

I'm of an age that I can remember life before political correctness. You know, when black people could be called derogatory names and politicians on the right could put leaflets through your door stating to vote for them if you didn't want a n**r for a neighbour. And the endless, fucking boring but offensive jokes about mother-in-laws and women from sweaty male comedians in smoky pubs full of angry, white men.

The fact is, for all the indignities political correctness has imposed on us, it has improved the lives of millions of minorities and women worldwide. By insisting on certain boundaries around polite public discourse about certain groups of human beings.

So all your Newspeak, which is unclear and wooly about what PC is, is actually factually inaccurate.

Political correctness is about offensive language. And those that oppose it, usually, want to regress to when it was okay to say offensive things about minority groups.
