"Hmm. Seems like an awful lot of people are not buying the "people's" revolution, and are putting their money where their mouths are:"

Just such a shame Hillary Clinton ran for the hills when asked. The last thing she wants is the vote checking ..... Bring it on Grin

Kaija · 24/11/2016 17:51

It's very funny - although not so much when you realise this person has the nuclear codes.

Kaija · 24/11/2016 17:36

Have a watch of this for a small but disturbing insight into Trump's character:

m.youtube.com/watch?v=GEEgplXwNWk

GlassCircles · 24/11/2016 17:21

One of my (many) concerns about Trump's character is that his natural tendency is to keep wanting more, more, more in the way of what he sees as personal achievement and status. He won't be limited by his own judgement, he'll keep going like a dog with a bone and his stopping point is only when he either gets what he wants, or things go so badly wrong he's forced to pursue a new goal. When the tits up situations are confined to his own businesses that's one thing, when it comes to world politics it's quite another.

Southallgirl · 24/11/2016 17:17

squishy I was referring to the screeching coming from all the protestors in USA. Running in the street, causing upset and damage ... there are better democrat ways to behave than that.

PacificDogwod · 24/11/2016 17:03

It is, isn't it, Lweji.

In what way Trump is not one of the Establishment, I don't understand.

And there are many people working today in the U.S.
I bet he is doing what he would have done had he not won the election.
I remain to be convinced that he can look beyond self-interest and how his business interests affect The People - they have never been a consideration for him before.

InformalRoman · 24/11/2016 17:00

Of course, lawyers and Harvard and Yale graduates don't count as "elites" in the US (let me see, that would include Pence, Carson, Giugliani, Sessions, Pompeo and Priebus).

Unlike Oxford and Cambridge graduates and lawyers in the UK?

Hmm
Lweji · 24/11/2016 16:58

I even think that Trump will pull off a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians.

Ah, claig. It's endearing, really.

Lweji · 24/11/2016 16:55

They will all be disappointed if they think Trump is on their side.
TRUMP: Um, I’ve known Steve Bannon a long time. If I thought he was a racist, or alt-right, or any of the things that we can, you know, the terms we can use, I wouldn’t even think about hiring him.

That doesn't really prove he's not racist or alt-righ.

But Steve went to Harvard, he was a, you know, he was very successful, he was a Naval officer, he’s, I think he’s very, very, you know, sadly, really, I think it’s very hard on him. I think he’s having a hard time with it. Because it’s not him. It’s not him.

Did you really want to transcribe that bit?

'Where has Trump ever shown any interest in anybody else but himself?'

i hour ago on twitter on the Thanksgiving Holiday, Donald J Trump

Trump wants to go down in history like a Lincoln or George Washington. He didn't have to do this, he had a great life, he is not a "career politician", he chose to do it to do great things for the American people and for the world.

Where has Trump ever shown any interest in anybody else but himself?
Where? Seriously. I would love to be shown the error of my impression of a bumbling, rich, spoilt toddler of a man who wants what he wants, and wants it now.

claig · 24/11/2016 16:00

' 'racist, homophobic and sexist thinkers throughout the land who are feeling empowered by Trump'.'

They will all be disappointed if they think Trump is on their side.

As Trump said about Steve Bannon whom the BBC and the media reports as being accused of being a "white supremacist" etc

TRUMP: Um, I’ve known Steve Bannon a long time. If I thought he was a racist, or alt-right, or any of the things that we can, you know, the terms we can use, I wouldn’t even think about hiring him. First of all, I’m the one that makes the decision, not Steve Bannon or anybody else. And Kellyanne will tell you that.

[laughter]

KELLYANE CONWAY: 100 percent.

TRUMP: And if he said something to me that, in terms of his views, or that I thought were inappropriate or bad, number one I wouldn’t do anything, and number two, he would have to be gone. But I know many people that know him, and in fact, he’s actually getting some very good press from a lot of the people that know him, and people that are on the left. But Steve went to Harvard, he was a, you know, he was very successful, he was a Naval officer, he’s, I think he’s very, very, you know, sadly, really, I think it’s very hard on him. I think he’s having a hard time with it. Because it’s not him. It’s not him.

'Trump's putting 'world peace' on his To Do list is encouraging'

Trump wants to go down in history like a Lincoln or George Washington. He didn't have to do this, he had a great life, he is not a "career politician", he chose to do it to do great things for the American people and for the world. In 4 years time, we will all look back and be amazed by what he did. This is not politicas as usual. He doesn't work for the Party, he work for the people. The Republican Party tried to stop him, their elite bosses hated him, he is not beholden to any of them or to anyone. That is why he is so different, that is why he will do great things.

And after him, I predict that his son Donald Trump Jr will become President because he has the same love for the people and the zeal and energy to sort things out and because as he says he is "sick of politicians on both sides" just like the people are too.

OP posts:
GlassCircles · 24/11/2016 15:55

Okay, perhaps more accurately I should have said 'racist, homophobic and sexist thinkers throughout the land who are feeling empowered by Trump'.

claig · 24/11/2016 15:50

'Perhaps he could start with the far right groups in America and convince them to have a love-in with their fellow citizens.'

GlassCircles, those groups are insignificant - a few thousand people out of 320 million. The media are hyping them and reporting on them now to try to knock Trump, but they have been around forever and have been saying and doing the same stuff. They are no threat to America at all, they have no power and David Duke came 7th in his Senate election.

OP posts:
GlassCircles · 24/11/2016 15:44

Trump's putting 'world peace' on his To Do list is encouraging, I suppose. Perhaps he could start with the far right groups in America and convince them to have a love-in with their fellow citizens.

Kaija · 24/11/2016 15:38

Hmm. Seems like an awful lot of people are not buying the "people's" revolution, and are putting their money where their mouths are:

claig · 24/11/2016 15:38

Well at least you aren't calling me a troll and a bot now, so that is an improvement. I reply to all questions in good faith, but don't bother asking me any more, so I don't have to waste time on your ones so you won't need to try "very hard to not insult" me any more.

OP posts:
PacificDogwod · 24/11/2016 15:35

I am trying very hard to not insult you, claig, but your repeated posting of slogans, stipulating conjecture as fact and persistent lack of engaging in any of the counter arguments does wear a bit thin after a while.

Like other posters I am not actually debating with you, but with those who might be lurking and who may be attracted to the simple world view you are so enthusiastically proselytising.

I believe it is vitally important to make quite clear that many, many people don't hold the views you seem to support. And think they are at best misguided and at worst dangerous, self-serving and bad. Yes, that is a moral judgement.

shirleyknotanotherbot · 24/11/2016 15:30

Surreal but compelling. Shock

claig · 24/11/2016 15:28

'This is all an entertaining game for you by the sounds of it.'

Believe me, it's not "entertaining" to reply to you in good faith and then be insulted by you, but I'm used to it by now.

OP posts:
claig · 24/11/2016 15:25

TRUMP: I would love to be able to be the one that made peace with Israel and the Palestinians. I would love that, that would be such a great achievement. Because nobody’s been able to do it.

HABERMAN: Do you think he can be part of that?

TRUMP: Well, I think he’d be very good at it. I mean he knows it so well. He knows the region, knows the people, knows the players. I would love to be — and you can put that down in a list of many things that I’d like to be able to do. Now a lot of people tell me, really great people tell me, that it’s impossible, you can’t do it. I’ve had a lot of, actually, great Israeli businesspeople tell me, you can’t do that, it’s impossible. I disagree, I think you can make peace. I think people are tired now of being shot, killed. At some point, when do they come? I think we can do that. I have reason to believe I can do that.

OP posts:
PacificDogwod · 24/11/2016 15:25

do joint space stuff

As long as they play nicely together.

This is all an entertaining game for you by the sounds of it.

claig · 24/11/2016 15:24

I even think that Trump will pull off a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians. Trump will go down in history as one of the most amazing Presidents ever, and all the teams of liars in the media will still be slagging him off for their elite bosses who are angry that he beat the lot of them.
