It was all a conspiracy! The NWO controlling our minds by convincing us that they were paid lackeys of the leave campaign. Same with the IMF, instructed to berate us with such force that it persuaded us otherwise. And the treasury, deliberately made such outlandish claims of impending doom that we could do nothing but vote against their wishes!

And the government! Cameron didn't resign, he's actually been PROMOTED up the pyramid to chief overseer of the debt slaves. Obama too, cleverly ringing memes guaranteed to enrage the British populace and convince to to vote the opposite way.

The economists, now they were clever, all ganging up in such a cohesive wall of unanimity that it was obvious they wanted us to vote the other way!

And the celebrities, all the ones we don't like, weaseling their insidious lines into our self consciousness so that we vote against them. Yeah!

How can they claim that their fears are unfounded though Piscivorus given that we haven't even left yet .

I have not met even one Leave voter who regrets it and I'm in a strongly Leave area so there are lots of them. I have though met several people who voted Remain who have said they would vote Leave if the ballot was re-run as they voted out of fear and now feel those fears were unfounded.

I think The Independent ha proved itself to be far from Independent with it's recent coverage and this is yet another piece of wishful thinking from them

Personally I think we should just get on with things one way or another as this dithering about is like being in No Mans Land waiting to see which side is going to shoot you first

What would it mean to be asked "whether we like that package"? Do we go back to the EU and spend vast amounts of time and resources negotiating a different one, and then another...? Or would it be the Tim Farron version where the 23 June result is ignored, and the choices are "Accept the package" or "Remain in the EU"? Even if there was another referendum, which I hope there won't be, then if the first one was "only advisory" then so is the next.

I don't recall a referendum before the Maastricht Treaty or Lisbon Treaty, to see if British people actually wanted to become "European" citizens, have open borders, give up control of our lawmaking, etc. Apparently you can't even renounce your European citizenship without renouncing your British citizenship at the same time.

What would Remain actually mean? Will the EU stay exactly as it is? Will the EU be handing out free unicorns, will the eurozone collapse, will the far right rise around the EU regardless of what the UK does? Will there be a rise in left-wing extremism in response? No-one knows the future of the EU, any more than they know the future of the UK. But it's certainly unlikely just to stay the same and be the safe "status quo" people imagined.

People lie in polls. They are too ashamed of their real opinions to admit them to pollsters, but weirdly not ashamed enough not to vote.

I thought the voter turnout amongst younger voters would be higher.

I don't know anyone who has changed their mind.

There won't be a second (or third or fourth) referendum. It's called democracy.

Is it an ASI Leave, where we are still in the Single Market?

Or a Britain First Leave, where we are out of everything and are also rounding up Muslims for deportation?

Or is it a Disney Leave, where everyone gets a free unicorn?

The Leave campaigners all told people what they thought they wanted to hear, and it didn't make any coherent sense. No-one knows what Leave actually means.

It's only fair that once there is a package, we get asked if we like that package. Point-blank refusal is fishy at best, and a betrayal of democracy at worst.

i'm OK with your wanting to leave, i'm OK with the vote to leave, thats the point of the vote - if people cant be arsed to get up and vote, then they have no right to complain, if people voted leave 'for a laugh', then they have no right to complain

Leave is still fine with me, and I'm just looking forward to when it actually happens.

It works both ways, and had the remain side won, it's possible that sooner or later, quite a few people would be regretting that. If we weren't leaving, I dread to think how the EU would be dictating to us in the future, what Juncker and Merkel would now be including our country in (such as the EU army for which there were supposedly no plans).

I was talking to one last night, professional guy, deep regret and only did it as a protest vote. It makes me want to cry it really does.

We vote every 4 years for a new government because that's what we agree to do

With Brexit we voted in or out; not to keep trying until the losing side win

The votes stands - lets just get on with it and stop faffing around. As others have said the polls are not a good indicator right now. (Not helped I suspect by people who disagree with the liberal left being painted as a racists/evil etc -not wanting to be labelled as such)
I'm in Scotland we already have Neverendum going on - I think the theory is keep putting it to the people until they get so fed of it and the discord it causes they vote as the SNP (establishment in the case of Brexit) wants so they just shut up about it and get on with doing what they should be - running the country effectively...
I'm very tempted next time I'm asked saying I am going to vote for independence (when I think that would be insane) -if enough people do Nicola will call one, be defeated again and might (vain hope) just drop it...

I voted remain but I think what's done is done, no take backs, it wasn't a game, it was one fair vote and now it has to be stuck to, only fair way is if a party runs on a remain manifesto during a GE and wins
